‘The Last of Us’ episode 7 trailer delves into Ellie’s past
We’re way past the halfway point of The Last of Us, but we’ve only been given snippets of Ellie’s (Bella Ramsey) backstory. Well, if the trailer for episode 7 is anything to go by, we’re in for a look into the past.
In the next instalment of HBO’s adaptation of the lauded Naughty Dog game, the series takes time to look into Ellie’s beginnings as a FEDRA military cadet, and is the first we’ve seen of her best friend Riley Abel in the TV show.
Riley is a character featured in The Last of Us DLC, Left Behind, and is being played by Storm Reid. In the trailer, she reveals to Ellie that’s she’s joined the Fireflies, the armed resistance against the very institution Ellie is training with. Riley’s only been mentioned in passing by Ellie up until this point, but the trailer features an abandoned mall we’ve heard about before — Tess (Anna Torv) asks Ellie about it in episode 2, but she evades detail — and an encounter between Ellie, Riley, and what looks like a Bloater.
Yeah, we’re nervous.
The Last of Us is now streaming on HBO Max. New episodes air every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
