A known Rockstar insider has stated that if we do get a Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen update, it will probably not be until after Grand Theft Auto 6 releases.
Releasing a current generation version of an older game is a firm favorite moneyspinning tactic for video game companies, and is popular with fans too – a win-win. The opportunity to revisit an old classic with updated and optimized graphics for players, the opportunity to sell the same game to multiple people twice for publishers.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of Rockstar’s most popular games – in fact, with over 61 million copies sold since its 2018 release, it is the seventh best-selling video game of all time. Rockstar is undoubtedly keen to continue milking it for all it’s worth.
Tez2, a known Rockstar insider and the person who broke the news of Red Dead Redemption 1’s upcoming PC port, has weighed into a conversation about a RDR2 update on the GTA Forums.
In a conversation speculating about if and when we will ever see a RDR2 update, Tez2 confirmed that Rockstar had started work on the update, but paused it to focus on GTA6, “It’s more likely to arrive after VI. We know that RDR2’s next-gen edition was in development but was halted, the same as RDO’s updates.”
What could a Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen update include?
He then went on to explain how this could lead to a more feature-rich Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen update. “VI would include all the upgrades intended for RDR2’s next-gen edition. So, after releasing VI, Rockstar could turn around and incorporate some of these upgrades into RDR2 on current-gen consoles. Rockstar Editor is one example.”
Rockstar Editor is a program that allows players to easily create videos from Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC and share them. It includes a Director Mode that allows players to stage characters and make whatever they can imagine.
Grand Theft Auto 6, which could cost over $70, is due to release sometime in 2025.

Reimbursements for Arkane Austin’s ill-fated shooter Redfall have started rolling out to customers who requested them, one month after Microsoft closed the studio and offered refunds for those who bought its premium content.
The refunds in question concern premium DLC planned for the game’s Hero Pass. Arkane Austin had told players in November that the DLC expansion was still in development, and that it would have more to share in 2024. Then, with the studio’s closure, remaining staff confirmed this DLC would never be released.
The Hero Pass was part of the game’s Bite Back special edition, which was sold both at retail and in online marketplaces. There was also the Bite Back upgrade, which was an online-only purchase that gave buyers of the base edition the content of the special edition.
Presumably, many users took advantage of the upgrade rather than the special edition because Redfall was a day-one launch on Xbox Game Pass. Subscribers, rightly guessing Microsoft wouldn’t be pulling it from the library anytime soon (and it has not, despite Arkane Austin’s closure) simply bought the upgrade and played the Game Pass version they were entitled to as subscribers.
UPDATE
Microsoft is now issuing refunds for Redfall’s Hero Pass as part of the Redfall Bit Back Edition or the premium Bite Back upgrade.

Other gamers confirm the screenshot in that X post, that they’re getting refunded without asking for one. If you bought this content, chances are you are too. Another Reddit post confirmed the refunds are coming to Steam users.
For those who want to be doubly sure they get their dough back, another Redditor pointed out that Xbox Live support agents, through chat, can issue instant refunds if requested. Those who bought physical versions have to go through a separate process, and should contact Bethesda Softworks’ customer support for instructions on how to get their money back.
What happened to Redfall?
Xbox Game Studios closed down Arkane Austin (as well as Ghostwire: Tokyo maker Tango Gameworks on May 7. Both were subsidiaries of Bethesda Softworks. Whereas Ghostwire: Tokyo had been in development before Microsoft acquired Bethesda in 2020, and the game was a PlayStation exclusive that the publisher honored, Redfall was tabbed as a day-one Game Pass launch, the kind that should drive value to the subscription.
Redfall, unfortunately, was delayed from its original 2022 release date into 2023, part of a dry spell for first-party Game Pass launches that bruised Xbox Game Studios’ reputation and expectations of it.
Redfall itself was a critical flop, with reviewers saying that, despite the novel premise of a seaside town overrun by vampires, the gameplay itself was dull and repetitive, serving a title that felt unpolished overall. The game received one last update on Arkane Austin’s way out the door.

As you progress through Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring’s one and only DLC, you’ll soon realize that there are once again, a bunch of bosses to take down.
Unfortunately though, like all things, the DLC must come to an end point, with one final boss preventing you from becoming the Tarnished of all Tarnished.
But who is the final boss in Shadow of the Erdtree? All things point to Messmer but has FromSoftware pulled a bait and switch? Let’s find out.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree final boss: What do we know?
According to various leaks that have hit the web, the final boss in Shadow of the Erdtree is in fact, Radahn. Yes, the guy you destroyed in the base game to access the DLC.
How can this be? I hear you ask.
Well, while it’s not that far-fetched for bosses to come back over and over, since Radahn’s battle was so epic and seemingly finite, many thought he was dead and buried for good.
However, when you dive into the lore, it is pretty reasonable to assume Radahn can make a comeback in an instant.
The reason why this is is because when you defeat Radahn, and his remains get consumed by Iron Fist Alexander, it opens up the opportunity for Miquella to bring him into the Shadow Realm, since you must divest yourself of flesh to enter.
This also makes sense since you must kill Radahn to even be able to access the DLC. If this weren’t the case, the already somewhat confusing lore would be thrown completely out of the window.
While all of the above points directly to Radahn being the final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree, it is still speculation at this point, and we’ll know more as we progress to that point ourselves.

Despite the current market dip, MEW shows potential for significant growth due to a recent Binance Futures listing announcement.
This listing might be good for MEW, a cat-themed token that has emerged prominently to challenge dog-themed tokens such as Shiba Inu and Baby Doge Coin.
Today, we’re delving deep into the MEW token, acknowledging its potential as a leading contender among cat-themed meme coins in the cryptocurrency space.
Additionally, we will discuss PlayDoge, one of the emerging meme coins that may soon be listed on Binance.
MEW price analysis
Currently, the MEW token is down nearly 5% for the day, reflecting broader market uncertainties. However, seasoned investors might view this dip as a good opportunity to consider adding MEW tokens to their portfolios.
With a market capitalization of about $360 million, MEW token has established itself within the top 156 coins by market cap, a notable achievement in the competitive cryptocurrency landscape.
The recent price movement partly stems from a significant sale by a whale investor, who sold $40 million worth of MEW tokens, temporarily driving its price downward. Such market dynamics are common in the crypto space, where large transactions can quickly influence token prices.
What sets MEW token apart is its niche as a leading cat meme coin. In a market dominated by dog-themed cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, MEW token represents the growing interest in feline-inspired digital assets.
Its simplicity is a strength, with a straightforward website and clear tokenomics: 90% of tokens burned, and a 10% airdrop to the Solana community, emphasizing community-driven growth and support.
While the broader cryptocurrency market shows signs of decline, with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other major coins experiencing varying degrees of loss, sentiment remains cautiously optimistic.
For those considering entry into the meme coin sector or expanding their crypto portfolio, MEW token’s unique position as a cat-themed token with Binance backing presents a compelling opportunity amidst turbulent market conditions. This listing also opens doors for MEW to be listed on other exchanges in the future.
MEW token launches on Binance Futures
Solana meme coin MEW debuts on Binance Futures. Starting June 17, 2024, Binance Futures, a derivative trading platform of the world’s largest exchange, Binance (BNB), added the major meme coin Cat in a Dogs World (MEW).
Binance Futures introduced the USD-M MEW Perpetual Contract, offering up to 50x leverage. At launch, the maximum funding rate for the MEWUSDT Perpetual Contract was capped at 2%, with the funding fee adjusted every four hours.

— MEW (@MewsWorld) June 17, 2024
From the start of MEWUSDT contract activity on Binance (BNB), Multi-Assets Mode enabled users to trade the new coin across multiple margin assets, subject to applicable haircuts. For example, when Multi-Assets Mode is on, users can use BTC as collateral when trading the MEWUSDT Perpetual Contract.
The meme coin community is excited about the MEWUSDT contract listing on Binance (BNB). Binance surpasses its major competitor, OKX, by over 100 million users globally, according to recent data.
Following the highly anticipated announcement, the Cat in a Dogs World (MEW) price jumped from $0.004 to over $0.0051 on major spot exchanges. For the first time in two weeks, MEW’s capitalization exceeded $450 million despite market apathy.
Additionally, the asset set a new trading volume record, entering the top 50 cryptos by this metric. In the last 24 hours, trading volume doubled and surpassed $220 million.
PlayDoge: The next big meme coin?
PlayDoge could be the next big hit in the meme crypto market, according to early numbers. Its highly successful presale reached $4.8 million in just a few weeks. The current price of $PLAY is $0.00511, and it is expected to rise in less than 72 hours.
Since it was launched, PlayDoge has garnered praise from investors and experts who think it could become the next meme coin to increase 100x in value. This mobile game turns the Doge meme into a Tamagotchi-style virtual pet.
Like a real pet, your virtual Doge needs feeding, training, entertainment, and interaction, earning you $PLAY tokens. The happier your pet, the more rewards you get. Playing the game can also place you on the leaderboard, earning extra $PLAY tokens and rewards for high scores.
You can also stake your tokens for a 145% annual yield. Over 129 million tokens have been staked, showing strong investor interest. The project has gone multi-chain, allowing investors to buy $PLAY tokens with $BNB or $ETH.
PlayDoge stands out by combining nostalgic virtual pet care with advanced blockchain technology. It introduces a Play-to-Earn feature that adds real-world value to the Tamagotchi concept. Since 1996, over 82 million Tamagotchis have been sold, proving the lasting appeal of pet simulation games.
Bringing the virtual pet experience into the modern era, PlayDoge offers high-definition pixel graphics, touchscreen controls, direct pet interaction, and seamless blockchain integration. Given the positive reception and early momentum, PlayDoge is well-positioned for a potential listing on Binance.
Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, has shown a growing interest in listing meme coins. PlayDoge’s strong community support, innovative concept, and audited smart contract make it a strong candidate for Binance’s requirements.
For those looking to take advantage of PlayDoge’s potential, now is a great time before prices rise in future presale stages. Stay updated on PlayDoge’s developments through their official channels on X and Telegram.

If you play the shooter aspect of EVE Online, Vanguard then there is a new limited-time event that you need to be checking out.
If you use EVE Omega (the game’s in-house currency) then the Solstice event will be open to you – nicely timed, what with it being the Solstice and all.
Starting today the event will continue until 1st July and bring some new content, as well as a patch containing the usual bag of fixes and improvements.
The most interesting bit is a new archipelago map full of vaults and tropical jungles to battle through.
Of course, all the while, normal Eve Online players will be doing what Eve Online players do, having mass political space battles the likes of which are not possible in any other game. It’s almost the perfect gaming universe.
It does seem as though this is a pivotal moment in Vanguard’s development. Tucked away at the bottom of the press release for Solstice is the following paragraph:
“Solstice marks the final public event in EVE Vanguard for the coming months, and we encourage all players who want to contribute to its development to participate. For the next phase of EVE Vanguard’s development, EVE Vanguard Founders’ members will have the chance to continue playing the game in private playtests and help shape the future of ground combat in New Eden. Throughout Solstice and beyond, players can join the EVE Vanguard Founders’ community on Discord, where they will have direct access to developers, get a first look at concepts and prototypes, and make their mark in the ongoing development process. We look forward to announcing further public events and playtests in the future.”
So it seems CCP is taking a step back for a strategic look at where to go next with the EVE offshoot. Interesting times in nullspace ahead.

Throne and Liberty is the new free-to-play South Korean MMO being developed by NCSoft for publishers Amazon Games. It is due to launch on September 17 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with an open beta running for five days in July.
The beta test will open at 10 am PT (5 pm UTC) on July 18 and will run until 10 am PT (5 pm UTC) on July 23.
Players in Europe, North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan can participate in the beta test by simply downloading the beta build from the game’s page on Steam or the PlayStation or Xbox stores.
An important note on the Throne and Liberty website reminds players that progress from the beta will not carry over to the full release of the game, so don’t get too invested in your beta characters.
What is Throne and Liberty?
Throne and Liberty is a free-to-play MMO set in the newly created world of Solisium. According to the game’s website, it will heavily focus around guild-based combat, encouraging players to work together to achieve large scale goals: “Engage in thrilling battles against dozens to thousands of other players and fantastic creatures in group battles and massive Castle Sieges.”
One factor that will potentially set Throne and Liberty apart is that players do not have to commit to a specific class at character creation and cut themselves off from the majority of combat styles. Instead, the weapon a player is wielding will determine their move set.
What about New World, Amazon’s other MMO?
It is probably safe to say that Amazon needs Throne and Liberty to be a success to make up for the disappointing post-launch performance of New World.
New World launched in 2021 with an all-time player peak of over 900k players, but that declined rapidly. Now averaging peaks of around 5,000 simultaneous players, fans feel cheated by the lack of bug fixes and post-launch support, aside from highly-priced DLCs.
While the game’s Steam reviews never got above ‘Mixed’, recent reviews are firmly in the ‘Overwhelmingly negative’ category and look set to stay there, with players describing bugs and glitches severe enough that entire characters have been erased from existence.
New World was not free-to-play, so the monetization strategy has allowed it to fall by the wayside after launch, but Throne and Liberty follows a different strategy, which will perhaps force Amazon Games and NCSoft into better post-launch support.

Elden Ring is a hard game. Its DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree is even tougher. The last thing you want to do is wander around aimlessly as that just gives more time for you to get smashed up
That’s where a good, solid map comes in handy, and thankfully the internet comes to gamers’ rescue and provides a resource that can just take some of the grind out of your new favorite game.
Dedicated teams of mappers spend hundreds of hours sometimes pointlessly mapping every twig when all you need is to know where that one particular chest is, but if you can’t find something that you need, you can generally rest assured somebody out there has found it and mapped it.
Best Shadow of Erdtree Interactive Map
We are expecting a flood of maps for Shadow pretty quickly. Usual guide sites such as MapGenie and Game8 will be on the ball as soon as the game drops, so this is a page we will be keeping an eye on and updating with the current best out there.
For now though, here are a couple of pages to keep an initial eye on
At the moment the Elden Ring Wiki has a map page ready but it just has a generic map placeholder in place. If you need a map immediately we are thinking this site will be one of the first to drop one, although how complete any of them will be at first is unknown at this point.
Video gaming mega site IGN is hawking its old Elden Ring content with its Elden Ring Interactive Map that you can use to get to the point where you can actually start the DLC.
IGN owns MapGenie (in case you didn’t know, so when a map drops here, it will probably drop there too.)
We will know more in the coming hours, so be sure to check back when we will have a better idea of where you should be heading too.

Critics and reviewers have been hard at work playing Elden Ring: Shadows of the Erdtree, and the verdict is in: Shadows of the Erdtree is the best DLC ever made, with a Metacritic rating of 95/100.
That isn’t just the best FromSoftware DLC ever made (and even that’s stiff competition, with FromSoft’s DLCs receiving high ratings across the board). Shadow of the Erdtree is now the best DLC that has ever been made for any game (by Metacritic rankings).
The title was previously held by The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine DLC, which is undeniably exceptional and well earns its 92 on Metacritic.
X user Shinobi602 has compiled a list of scores from across the web, and the trend is immediately clear – tens across the board (with the notable exception of Eurogamer).

Excited Tarnished eager to dive back into the world of Elden Ring are reaching a fever pitch, and these ratings are only whipping that excitement up beyond measure. “These guys are Elden Lords when it comes to DLCs,” said one witty X user.
As well as being generally highly rated, Shadows of the Erdtree is the highest-rated game of 2024 so far, beating out multiple excellent titles, like the previously mentioned Destiny 2: The Final Shape (rated 90 on Metacritic) and indie darling Balatro (also rated 90).
Are DLC’s eligible to win Game of the Year?
How long is Shadows of the Erdtree?
In an interview with the Japanese site Famitsu (translated by Google translate), Hidetaka Miyazaki, director of FromSoftware, thinks the game will take around 30 hours for players who focus on the main story and don’t wander off to do too much exploring.
However, people looking to uncover every secret and overturn every stone can expect a much longer experience. Gene Park, video game reporter for The Washington Post said on X that he has played over 65 hours of Shadows of the Erdtree and is still finding new content.
The DLC’s HowLongToBeat page currently gives a main story estimate of 20 hours, but this is sure to change as more and more people get to experience the epic adventure and submit their own times.
