The official X  account of legendary heavy metal band Metallica was briefly compromised to promote a crypto scam. The hackers used the opportunity to promote a fraudulent Solana-based (SOL) token with the ticker METAL late on Tuesday EST (June 25).

The now-deleted unauthorized posts claimed a partnership with Ticketmaster and involvement from fintech company MoonPay. However, both companies quickly distanced themselves from the project. MoonPay’s president, Keith Grossman, explicitly denied any connection:

If someone is offering you a $METAL token, they are not the master of puppets – they’re the master of scams!

Keep your keys safe and ride the lightning responsibly!

The hackers attempted to lure potential buyers by promising exclusive perks such as free concert tickets, custom gaming consoles, and merchandise in exchange for METAL tokens. In another deleted-post even suggested the token would offer staking rewards.

Despite these claims, the token’s value plummeted shortly after its launch. According to Dexscreener data, METAL’s total value briefly peaked at $3.37 million before crashing to around $90,000 within three hours. The price dropped by nearly 100% from its high point.

Metallica’s team has since regained control of the X account and deleted all posts related to the fake token. The band and their management have not yet commented on the incident, and the method of the account breach remains unclear.

This event serves as a reminder of the ongoing risks of cryptocurrency scams and the importance of verifying information from official sources, even when it appears to come from verified accounts of well-known entities.

The report follows early June leaks suggesting that Metallica is planning to hold a concert in Fortnite.

While AI chatbots have become known for acting as assistants as people go about their day-to-day tasks, Claude by Anthropic has just stepped it up as they expand from individuals and offer a ‘Team’ setting.

People on the paid plans, either Pro or Team, can now organize chats into projects and bring together curated sets of knowledge and chat activity into one place with this all being viewable by teammates.

The offering is powered by Claude 3.5 Sonnet which has enabled each project to include a 200K context window which is the equivalent of a 500-page book.

“With this new functionality, Claude can enable idea generation, more strategic decision-making, and exceptional results,” writes the Anthropic team in a blog post.

The team behind the project tool will be working on expanding the feature over the coming months, with “native integrations with popular applications and tools” being teased.

What’s possible with Claude’s new Projects functionality

From the get-go, the outputs of the chatbot can be personalized according to internal knowledge. This could include style guides, codebases, interview transcripts, or past work.

Instructions can be tailored for each project too, with Claude being told to be more formal for one and answer questions from the perspective of a specific role for another.

When it comes to sharing, those on the paid-for plan can exchange snapshots of conversations with their team’s shared project activity feed.

“Activity feeds help each teammate get inspired around different ways to work with Claude, and helps the entire team uplevel their skills working with AI.”

The announcement from the California-based startup comes just a week after the Claude 3.5 Sonnet was published last Friday (June 21).

This model is said to have set “new industry benchmarks” for graduate-level reasoning, undergraduate-level knowledge, and coding proficiency.

Although not yet as known as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic is certainly hot on their heels as they say they’ll be releasing Claude 3.5 Haiku and Claude 3.5 Opus later this year.

If you’re a fan of the Katana weapon type in Elden Ring, you’re going to absolutely love the Rakshasa’s Great Katana introduced with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Not only does it look impressive, it has the damage to back it up, making it a deadly fashion statement, similar to that of the Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana.

However, getting to it in the expansion is no mean feat, requiring you to locate and defeat a boss that is pretty hidden.

To help you out, we’ll guide you through the whole process for where to find Rakshasa’s Great Katana in Shadow of the Erdtree so you too can wield this impressive sword.

Where to find Rakshasa’s Great Katana in Shadow of the Erdtree

To secure Rakshasa’s Great Katana, you must defeat Rakshasa. As previously mentioned, this boss is deep within the DLC, so be prepared to do some traveling.

To get to Rakshasa, you’ll first need to secure the Main Gate Plaza Site of Grace at the Shadow Keep.

Once there, exit immediately via the west passage and follow the route, using the right side as your guide. After making it to what looks like flaming boats, look for a ladder on the left and head down.

Go through the waterfall and down the other ladder in front of you. You’ll now enter a room with a painting that you can pick up.

Look to your south in the middle of the room and open up the illusory wall, allowing you to continue to a coffin that you can rest at, taking you to Scadu Altus.

Move south and when the opportunity arises, hug the left side of the cliff. Carry on until you can then jump over to the right side. You should encounter the Recluses’ River Downstream Site of Grace, so you know you’re on the right path.

Go down the gravestones poking out of the crevice and wade through the water. Follow the water and you will end up at the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum.

Enter the Mausoleum and defeat Rakshasa to receive Rakshasa’s Great Katana.

The American slap fighting promotion company Power Slap has announced a marketing partnership with NetBet who will officially become a sportsbook partner for 2024.

Through the partnership, the slapping competition company hopes to expand and ‘supercharge’ their popularity across the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Romania, Brazil, and Mexico.

The duo are wasting no time either as the partnership kicks off this week ahead of the next event Power Slap 8: Da Crazy Hawaiian vs. Danie Van Heerden on Friday (June 28).

The online gambling platform NetBet will be displayed across the table and canvas at the upcoming events and the two brands will team up for social and digital branded opportunities focused on betting odds over the coming months.

“The addition of NetBet to Power Slap’s growing list of blue-chip brand partners continues to show the evolution and trajectory of the sport, and in particular the demand by fans for betting” said Power Slap President Frank Lamicella in a news release.

“This partnership with NetBet will expand betting opportunities to fans across Europe, Mexico & Brazil.”

“We look forward to offering fans unique opportunities to engage with the thrilling world of Power Slap as it grows across Europe and beyond,” said NetBet CEO Marcel Prioteasa.

What is Power Slap?

Truly unlike any other event, Power Slap is a slap fighting promotion company that was founded in 2022 by UFC CEO Dana White. They host events where people slap each other as they stand face-to-face on a stage with a table in between them.

It sounds simple but the rules are similar to more traditional sports, as they include weight classes and weight allowances which are the same as what’s seen in the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts.

All participants must wear a mouth guard and cotton inner ear protectors too, with headgear or hats not allowed.

Matches at Power Slap events are scored on a 10-point scoring system with the winner being chosen through decision via the scorecards, knockout, technical knockout, no contest or technical decision.

Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion has been doing rather well. The highest-rated add-on of all time has also had its fair share of people complaining about its innate difficulty levels and with that in mind FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have just released a ‘calibration patch’ which they say will “adjust the expansion’s balance.”

But what does that mean for you, what’s changed and will you now be able to stop banging your head against the wall? Unlikely but let’s have a look anyway.

Shadow of the Erdtree Calibration Update 1.12.2 – what’s new

This is more of what we would traditionally call a hotfix in many ways, there are no huge, sweeping changes here. In fact, looking at the patch notes it mainly seems to be based around scaling the curve of Shadow Realm Blessings.

Attack and damage negation curve scaling of the Shadow Realm Blessings has been revised.

The attack and damage negation has been increased for the first half of the maximum amount of Blessing enhancements, and the second half will now be more gradual.
The attack and damage negation granted by the final level of Blessing enhancements has been slightly increased.

There has also been a confirmed bug where raytracing is automatically enabled if you have loaded save game data from a previous version.

The advice is:

If your framerate is unstable, please check in the ‘SYSTEM’ > ‘Graphics Settings’ > ‘Raytracing Quality’ settings from the title menu or in-game menu to check if it has been unintentionally set to ‘ON’. Once set to ‘OFF’, Ray Tracing will no longer be automatically enabled.

How to get the Calibration update

Log into your multiplayer server. If the Calibration Ver. listed in the bottom right of your screen does not say 1.12.2 then login and apply the patch before playing.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT is now available to all macOS users as the chatbot has been integrated into the Mac computer.

At the beginning of June, Apple and OpenAI shared news of their partnership, including the tool’s AI capabilities to be incorporated into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

While the integrations were said in the initial press release to be coming later this year, Mac users have only had to wait a matter of weeks.

The ChatGPT desktop app for macOS is now available for all users.

— OpenAI (@OpenAI) June 25, 2024

Now, the chatbot will become increasingly familiar as it can be accessed by a simple keyboard combination of Option and Space. The ChatGPT desktop app has to be installed beforehand.

When the chat box pops up, it can then be used to take screenshots, upload files, share images, search conversations, and ask anything.

Users can speak with the AI through the desktop too, as a headphone icon will be visible next to the box where you’d normally type your requests and this can be used to begin a voice conversation.

ChatGPT for Mac first to come in Apple and OpenAI partnership

Although the expansion into Apple’s other operating devices became a huge moment when spoken about at the Worldwide Developer Conference, the introduction of the tool onto macOS was slightly overshadowed.

The news of the desktop app was published at the same time as the introduction of GPT-4o, with it being easy to miss the information as the buzz around the new model started growing quickly and there is still much speculation around the possibility of ChatGPT-5.

The app for Mac can be accessed by both free and paid users and those with an avid eye may notice a small change in design. “We’re introducing a new look and feel for ChatGPT that’s designed to be friendlier and more conversational,” writes the team in a news release.

This new appearance includes a more simple-looking home screen and message layout.

With Apple and ChatGPT having formed a partnership, it’s understandable the focus has been on bringing the AI tool to the usual spread of products. However, a Windows version of the app will be launched later this year.

The European Commission has accused Microsoft of breaking EU antitrust rules by bundling its Teams communication app with its subscription services.

The regulator, which is the executive body of the EU, has indicated on Tuesday (June 25) the action to link Teams to Microsoft 365 and Office 365 back in 2019 was an abuse of market dominance. Users did not have a choice in opting for Teams, with its access included with the regular packages.

After a complaint from rival platform Slack in 2020, the European Commission opened its probe with its initial determination now revealed.

“The European Commission has informed Microsoft of its preliminary view that Microsoft has breached EU antitrust rules by tying its communication and collaboration product Teams to its popular productivity applications included in its suites for businesses Office 365 and Microsoft 365,” said the statement of objections, issued to companies to inform of concerns raised against them.

Microsoft has since offered service without Teams, but the EU regulator believes the changes don’t go far enough, with more action required to restore competition.

Microsoft “will work to find solutions”

The US tech giant was forced to pay $2.4 billion around 20 years ago for similar breaches of EU antitrust rules for tying, or bundling, two or more products together and related offenses. It now faces a further serious sanction, which could be as much as 10% of its global turnover total if the company is found guilty of the latest alleged infringement.

This is another example of how the EU is taking stringent action against what it considers to be ‘gatekeepers’ in Big Tech, including Apple and Microsoft, especially with the introduction of the new Digital Markets Act.

In response, Microsoft President Brad Smith referenced comments made earlier this month about the company’s openness to find a solution to the impasse. On that occasion, he stated, “I expect we will take additional steps. On Teams, we have done a lot of work, (but) our work isn’t yet done.”

“Microsoft is committed to find a resolution to regulators’ concerns,” Smith said.

This was followed up on the back of the preliminary determination delivered by the EU, with a further signal of intent,  “Having unbundled Teams and taken initial interoperability steps, we appreciate the additional clarity provided today and will work to find solutions to address the Commission’s remaining concerns,” Smith added.

Hand up who remembers Palworld? You know, that game that everybody said was too much like Pokemon. Oh come on, it was only six months ago. Palworld? Well, after coming from seemingly nowhere and in a short space of time returning back there Palword has had a remarkable ride.

Outrage from the Nintendo fanboys that it was just all a big ripoff and even threats that mighty Nintendo had its legal department in training for a big fight. And then, nothing.

From an all-time peak of two million concurrent players, Palword is still there, but with a much more sedate 19k currently playing as I write this.

Those heady launch days may be behind the game but Palworld Director Takuro Mizobe told Game File recently that nothing ever materialized from the ominous noises that came from Nintendo HQ during Palworld’s peak.

“Nothing at all,” Mizobe explained to Game File’s Stephen Totilo. “Nintendo and the Pokémon Company didn’t say anything to us.”

And so it all went quiet. But might that be about to change? Palworld’s first major update since the fuss is scheduled to drop tomorrow (27th June) and the game still maintains a Very Positive rating on its Steam Store page.

Palworld’s Sakurajima Update has a nice trailer that you can see above and the devs are promising heaps of new content and mechanics, so much that they can’t all fit into the trailer.

The 90-second showcase features a new island, new Pals (are you ready Nintendo?), new buildings, and a much-needed new level cap.

The Xbox version of Palword is also set to get desiccated servers for the first time too, which can only be a good thing. We are also promised a new raid, and a, slightly weird this, Stronghold based on an oil rig.

The update certainly isn’t going to be shy of new stuff, hopefully, it will persuade enough people to come back to what was once the most talked-about game in ages.

With PEPE’s price experiencing ups and downs, a strong new altcoin has emerged, causing many traders to shift their attention to this meme coin called Pepe Unchained.

Today, we explore the intriguing question of whether Pepe can make a comeback and how the introduction of Pepe Unchained might save it.

Let’s examine Pepe’s current state, its future potential, and how Pepe Unchained could emerge as a top competitor among meme coins in the coming days.

Pepe price analysis and prediction

Pepe has established a notable position in the crypto space, with a market cap of over $5 billion. Although the initial hype has significantly waned, especially on social media, the project continues to perform relatively well.

Over the last year, Pepe underwent various developments. The project introduced contract addresses on BNB and Arbitrum and achieved several listings. However, it also faced significant challenges, including a $16 million theft and the burning of 6.9 trillion tokens.

Although the burn might seem substantial, it is relatively small compared to the total supply of 420 trillion tokens. Recently, Pepe released the CertiK audit, which highlights its long-term growth potential. Historically, Pepe has experienced massive rallies followed by 40-50% crashes.

Over the past week, Pepe experienced a modest 9.49% increase, and in the past 24 hours, it also increased by 9.14%, which is typical in the volatile world of cryptocurrency. However, it saw a steeper 15% drop over the past month, potentially presenting a buying opportunity for investors.

Currently, it appears to be in the midst of another downturn. Additionally, Bitcoin isn’t performing well, with its price around $61,000, down of over $10,000 from its all-time high. This overall bearish market sentiment is affecting Pepe’s outlook.

For those unfamiliar, Pepe is a meme coin project. The most exciting development is the introduction of the Pepe blockchain, also known as Pepe Unchained. This new project is currently in its presale phase, offering investors an opportunity to get in early.

Pepe Unchained: Introducing the new Pepe Blockchain

After over a year of Pepe’s dominance on the Ethereum blockchain, a Layer 2 Pepe chain has finally been created. In hindsight, this development should have occurred sooner, but the developers of Pepe Unchained may have crafted the future of meme coins with their Pepe Layer 2 solution.

Pepe Unchained improves upon the traditional Ethereum Layer 1 by enhancing speed, lowering fees, and creating $PEPU, a native token that powers the ecosystem. Pepe Unchained also has an advantage over the original Pepe as it is currently in its early presale.

The ICO phase of Pepe Unchained has now raised more than $800,000 in just one week, with $PEPU tokens available for $0.0080641 each. To join the $PEPU presale, users should first install and activate a crypto wallet.

Various wallets are supported, but MetaMask is an excellent option, especially for beginners, as it is available for both mobile and PC. Fund the wallet with ETH, USDT, or BNB as the next step. The presale also supports fiat card purchases.

Next, visit the Pepe Unchained website, connect the wallet to the presale page, choose your payment method, and enter the amount of $PEPU you wish to buy. Authorize the transaction and complete the purchase. The claim button will activate after the presale ends.

Investors can stake their $PEPU tokens to earn passive income during the holding period. The staking APY was an astounding 2,518% per annum at the time of writing, though it is expected to decline as more investors join the pool. Currently, over 63 million $PEPU tokens are staked.

To stay informed about the presale, reward claiming, and exchange listings, follow Pepe Unchained on X. They recently posted about their Telegram channel.

Exciting news! Our official Telegram channel opens in just 7 days! 🐸🧠

Few words will put a catch in the throat of a Gen Xer like “Atari.” No matter how badly that brand has been botched since Warner Bros. bought out founder Nolan Bushnell and sent head-smacking mistakes like E.T. and Pac-Man to a New Mexico grave, it’s still the name that started home console gaming in the United States, and that accords a certain level of respect, if not deference, like the feelings 1990s kids have for Nintendo.

Where was I? Yes, Atari will be getting an Expanded Edition of its Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, an anthology which launched in November 2022 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

That comprised well more than 100 games, actually, which included prototypes and unreleased concepts for the Atari VCS/2600 and Atari 5200, as well as catalog mainstays like Air-Sea Battle, Warlords and Outlaw; home adaptations of arcade quarter-eaters Asteroids and Missile Command; and pioneering concepts like Yars’ Revenge, and the Swordquest and RealSports series.

Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Expanded Edition launches with 39 more games this fall for all the platforms of the original anthology, for $39.99. The new lineup of games will also be available to owners of the original collection as premium DLC.

A steelbook edition gives collectors all the games on a disc plus several other premiums, including some miniaturized replicas of arcade cabinet marquees, art cards, and even a replica of the business card for Al Alcorn, creator of Pong, which was installed in late November 1972 at a Sunnyvale, Calif. bar that is today the Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club. (I know this because I used to bomb, badly, on Tuesday evenings in Rooster’s open-mic showcases.)

The 39 additional games will be segmented into two timelines: The Wider World of Atari, and The First Console War. The latter references Atari duking it out with Intellivision, a rivalry that ended only last month when Atari’s owners plucked the Intellivision IP off the scrap heap with Tommy Tallarico’s pie-in-the-sky Intellivision Amico still unreleased after seven years allegedly in development.

What’s in the Atari 50: Anniversary Celebration Expanded Edition?

Atari’s brand managers’ purchase of Intellivision gave them rights to some 200 games, which is probably the fuel for this expanded edition re-release. A statement on Tuesday mentioned that the Expanded Edition will include “both Atari and M Network games,” referencing the third-party publishing label for the 2600 that Mattel opened as the original console’s fortunes turned south.

Berzerk, Stern Electronics’ original maze-based run-n-gunner (pictured above) will also feature prominently. Atari acquired that property (and its sequel, Frenzy) back in 2023. It was one of the most faithful adaptations of an arcade game (absent synthesized voice files, of course) the 2600 had to offer.

Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Expanded Edition will be released Oct. 25 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
