PlayStation is known for stylish versions of its DualSense 5 controller and the company revealed its plans for a cute dual-analog gamepad in the style of Astro Bot, who is coming back later this year in his own game. It’s very cute.

It helps that Astro Bot and the DualSense both have a white plastic shell, so that was easy to replicate, but what nails the look is the touch pad, which resemble’s Astro-Bot’s eyes. It’s hard to describe, probably best to show it in this video.

“It is a true work of art and we could not be happier with the end result,” said Nicolas Doucet, head of studio at Team Asobi (which is making Astro Bot.”

Who is Astro Bot?

Fun fact, Astro Bot began life in 2018 the main character in a PlayStation VR game (then for the PS4) designed to showcase and demonstrate PS VR’s capabilities. In that game, he and his friend live inside of the older console’s DualShock 4 controller, so there is something of a history here.

He returned in 2020 in the pack-in game Astro’s Playroom which showed buyers of the PlayStation 5 how to use that console’s gamepad and its features.

Since then Astro has emerged, however unlikely, as a console mascot in the mold of Mario or Sonic in the old days of the early 1990s. He’s returning again on Sept. 6 with the self-titled Astro Bot launching for PS5.

The game will star more than 30 “VIP bots” who resemble Astro but are in fact callbacks to PlayStation exclusive titles over the past 20-plus years, including Uncharted, PaRappa, Sly Cooper, and even Killzone and Ghost of Tsushima.

The AstroBot DualSense 5 launches Sept. 6 and will cost $69.99 along with the game, pre-orders will open in select markets (mainly western Europe, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.) on Aug. 9.

Castle Crashers, the side-scrolling multiplayer beat-em-up that launched in 2008, is getting premium DLC. This is significant because, in addition to launching in 2008, it hasn’t gotten a DLC update since 2012, but it obviously still has enough of an audience to rate an update worthy of a live-service game.

As explained by developer The Behemoth over the weekend, the DLC will let players customize skins for their characters, play with a new character, and enjoy new weapon artwork.

The trailer is somewhat lore-specific, so try to follow along. But the idea is “Painter Boss, Jr.” is a new playable character, as well as the spokesperson for the new DLC. Bottom line, fans can go back in, draw up new characters, and see them fully animated within minutes, no extra work needed.

This of course means players can go zany with who they make, but The Behemoth is careful to ask folks to keep things within Steam community guidelines — aka, please don’t rip off other people’s IP. These creations are still shareable, so … anything goes, somewhat like create-a-wrestler in the WWE 2K series. But unofficially, you can still customize to your heart’s content.

What else is The Behemoth updating?

BattleBlock Theater, also developed by The Behemoth (and launched in 2013) is getting what’s billed as a big quality-of-life update. That doesn’t mean new features or expansions per se, but the studio promises better frame rates, resolution, support for more controller types, and the obligatory bug fixes and enhancements (PC version).

In all it’s just a sign that people who have made very good games, even if that was more than a decade ago, are still around to support it. And fans who remember them should consider coming back. There is no release date yet for this DLC or Battleblock’s update, unfortunately, but it looks like a lot of fun.

Rumors are swirling that more achievements for Starfield could be on its way with its forthcoming Shattered Space story expansion, although a release date has not been set yet. Bethesda’s recent registration of the trademark “Starborn” might also suggest future developments for the game, which is highly regarded as one of the top Xbox role-playing games.

The trademark was registered by Zenimax Media, Bethesda’s parent company, and noticed by users on Reddit and X (formerly known as Twitter). Although the game developer has not officially announced anything or directly referenced “Starfield,” fans of the game are finding reasons to be hopeful.

It looks like Starborn may be Starfield’s next expansion pic.twitter.com/wisHr7ohzI

— Timur222 (@bogorad222) July 29, 2024

Many believe the trademark registration signals the second DLC for the game. The trademark description as “downloadable computer game software for personal computers and home video game consoles” significantly hints at this possibility.

According to the game’s director, Todd Howard, Bethesda aims to release Starfield expansions annually, and planning for future expansions beyond Shattered Space is already underway.

What could Starborn be about?

Although the next expansion may still be a long time coming, the name “Starborn” holds particular significance for players who are already speeding ahead in Starfield, especially with its ties to the main storyline’s Constellation organization and its quest for Artifacts, suggesting a potential direction for upcoming DLCs. Yet, no official announcements or confirmations have been made regarding what the next DLC will entail.

The possibility of a new Starfield DLC exploring the game’s multiverse concept is also intriguing. Such a DLC could introduce encounters with multiple versions of the player’s character in alternate universes.

It remains to be seen how players will engage with future story DLCs. Earlier data revealed that nearly half of the game’s Xbox players had not yet joined the main story faction. Meanwhile, updates for the game continue, with the developers addressing issues with mods on Xbox following reported “negative effects.”

Users have been left disappointed after Netflix‘s highly anticipated app rollout for Windows 11 fell seriously short of expectations. Originally announced in May, the update was meant to replace the native app by June but faced delays and a rapid testing phase in July.

The newly released version is no longer a standalone app but has become essentially web application wrapped in the Microsoft Edge-web browser, directing users to Netflix.com. This was a major leap from the previous Windows 8-era native app, which featured a popular “Downloads” option. The functionality allowed users to watch shows offline—considered a must-have tool for travelers—which has unfortunately been removed in the latest update.

Subscribers took to X to complain about the change calling it “terrible”.

What!??? @netflix is updating its Windows desktop app and “making it better” by removing the ability to download offline.

This is how I watch Netflix on the plane. This is a terrible change. pic.twitter.com/8XsiQqNCM7

— Artem Russakovskii (@ArtemR) May 25, 2024

Netflix sucks!
They removed the offline version on windows. You can no longer download and view offline.
This is awful move from Netflix.
That was a handy feature. I used it when on the move

— Imoh (@Imohtheking) July 23, 2024

Windows Latest also criticized the update as “awful” and that “it makes no sense.” The publication explained that the app’s functionality could easily be replicated by using any web browser, as the so-called app only loads the Netflix website within a Microsoft Edge container.

How to use Netflix on Windows 11

Users will still be able to pin the app to the taskbar, start menu, create desktop shortcuts, and set it to auto-start, but these are basic features common to all Microsoft Edge-based web apps.

Additional features like right-clicking within the app to open links in a new tab or accessing developer tools reflect the app’s new web-centric architecture, which means it behaves more like a browser than a dedicated streaming service app.

In response to the backlash, Netflix provided a statement to Windows Latest, stressing that the updated app aims to deliver a “consistent, quality experience for our members across the devices they use to watch our TV shows and movies.”

They highlighted new additions such as access to live events and compatibility with ad-supported plans. However, Netflix also confirmed, “As the browser streaming does not support Downloads, same way new Netflix App won’t be supporting downloads. Only streaming online can be done. You can continue to watch TV shows and movies offline on a supported mobile device.”

For those looking to watch Netflix content offline, the company advises using a supported mobile device, leaving laptop users with fewer options than before.

CoinMarketCap data shows that Bitcoin’s (BTC) price approached $70,000 on Monday, reaching a six-week high following former U.S. President Donald Trump’s renewed support for cryptocurrency over the weekend.

At the time of reporting, the leading cryptocurrency was trading around $69,800, showing a 3.32% increase in 24 hours. Ethereum (ETH) also saw gains, up 4.28% at $3,350, while Solana (SOL) rose 5.9% to approximately $193 over the same period.

Justin d’Anethan from Keyrock attributed the positive market sentiment to recent supportive statements from politicians and economic figures. He told The Block:

The current positive statement regarding crypto from many politicians and economic stakeholders is bolstering investor sentiment. […] In Nashville, the Bitcoin conference has been a long stream of respected speakers talking about the importance of crypto and the potential for further allocations to BTC — which of course many traders want to believe in and front run.

Is the U.S. building a ‘strategic Bitcoin reserve’?

At the conference, Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, promised to establish a “strategic Bitcoin reserve” if elected in November and to halt U.S. sales of existing holdings. Rumors about this announcement started spreading just shy of a week ago. He also stated his intention to remove SEC Chair Gary Gensler from office.

Senator Cynthia Lummis recently revealed plans to introduce legislation directing the U.S. Treasury to acquire 1 million BTC (worth approximately $68 billion) over five years. The proposed bill would have the Treasury self-custody these assets across various locations for at least two decades.

D’Anethan also suggested that expectations of a Republican victory in the upcoming elections are fueling beliefs in a more accommodative monetary policy and business-friendly administration. Peter Chung of Presto told The Block the increasing importance of following U.S. election developments until November. He added:

Short-term speculators’ position leading up to the Trump speech was liquidated when the market briefly tanked on ‘sell-the-news’ move during the speech, as evidenced in the large liquidation at futures markets. As a result, the short-term speculative positions are now swapped to long-term investors who understand the significance of the changes taking place in U.S. politics with regard to Bitcoin.

A recent cutscene from Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has unveiled both familiar and new faces, shedding light on the next character that players can control. The scene has sparked discussions concerning the story’s direction.

Last week, Rocksteady Studios introduced Mrs. Freeze in its live service game as part of Season 2’s launch. According to Rocksteady’s patch notes, “Mrs. Freeze is bringing some much-needed expertise to the Squad in the form of her freeze tech, primarily used for her super-slick traversal.” However, some fans were not impressed with the character’s outfits.

This is exactly the one example of stuff I will never want to see in a video game. Do this and guarantee to lose a sale. This is Mrs. Freeze from Suicide Squad by Sweet Baby Inc. On top of that hideous clothing, she looks absolutely terrible! pic.twitter.com/8GnpM8f1EG

— GameCharactersAI (@GameCharacterAI) July 26, 2024

The scene also revealed The Flash’s return after the Suicide Squad rescues him from captivity, having eliminated a post-launch Brainiac character as part of the season’s content. The Suicide Squad had previously reportedly killed The Flash along with several other Justice League members to protect Metropolis from Brainiac in the game’s main storyline.

In March, Sony reportedly gave refunds to fans after it received mixed reviews upon its release in January, with some players complaining about game-breaking issues and a low player count.

Suicide Squad cutscene divides fans

Opinions have varied on the direction the developers have taken. Some players found it unexpectedly refreshing, while others believed a plot twist involving the return of “good” Justice League members was inevitable.

Questions are circulating about the details of The Flash’s return, its implications for Brainiac’s overarching scheme, and the potential resurrection of other characters thought to be killed by the Suicide Squad, like Batman, Green Lantern, and Superman.

One user on Reddit criticized the developer for not making the story clearer: “I am vastly saddened that nobody even mentioned that having this conversation is proof that Rocksteady doesn’t even care enough to even tell its dwindling player base what even happened.”

Another user said that the game couldn’t be saved, adding that “they just have a skeleton crew rolling out the rest of their content.”

Regarding the Flash
byu/JaMoraht inSuicideSquadGaming

The Suicide Squad game has also divided fans after the death of the corrupted Batman from the Arkham trilogy, who was executed by Harley Quinn. Critics argued that this did not honor the character, especially since he was voiced by the late Kevin Conroy, well remembered as Batman’s voice from the DC cartoons beginning in the 1990s.

However, the new cutscene suggests that the Suicide Squad may have removed clones of the original Justice League during the main storyline, with the true members held captive by Brainiac. Yet, there are theories suggesting that the original Justice League members were indeed killed by the Suicide Squad, only for Brainiac to revive them. It is now up to Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark to rescue them.

In another noteworthy moment from the cutscene, The Flash collapses after seeing the Suicide Squad, while questioning why they aren’t imprisoned. His reappearance raises further questions, yet the scene ends without further explanation about why he is back.

The post Trump fights for the crypto vote at Bitcoin conference appeared first on ReadWrite.

At the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee, former President Donald Trump delivered a keynote speech.

Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, used the platform to appeal to the tech community and solicit campaign donations. During the conference, he said:

I pledge to the Bitcoin community that the day I take the oath of office, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s anti-crypto crusade will be over … If we don’t embrace crypto and Bitcoin technology, China will, other countries will. They’ll dominate, and we cannot let China dominate. They are making too much progress as it is.

Trump’s address focused heavily on cryptocurrency policy, positioning it as a partisan issue. He claimed that if re-elected, he would dismiss SEC Chairman Gary Gensler on his first day in office, a statement that drew enthusiastic cheers from the audience. This declaration marks a stark contrast to Gensler’s tenure, which has been characterized by stringent oversight of the crypto industry.

The former president outlined several pro-crypto initiatives he would pursue if elected. These included making the US the global cryptocurrency hub, retaining all government-held Bitcoin as a “national Bitcoin stockpile,” establishing a presidential advisory council on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, and developing power plants to support crypto mining, emphasizing the use of fossil fuels.

Trump’s current embrace of cryptocurrency represents a reversal from his 2021 stance, when he described Bitcoin as a “scam against the dollar.” He also highlighted that his campaign has received $25 million in donations since accepting cryptocurrency payments two months ago.

The event featured appearances by other political figures, including Republican Senators Tim Scott and Tommy Tuberville, as well as Democratic Representatives Wiley Nickel and Ro Khanna. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also spoke at the conference.

Trump’s appearance at Bitcoin 2024 reflects growing support for his campaign among some tech leaders, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and crypto entrepreneurs Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.

While Trump portrayed the current administration as “anti-crypto,” Democratic congressman Wiley Nickel asserted that Vice President Kamala Harris is taking a “forward-looking approach to digital assets and blockchain technology.”

This event underscores the increasing political significance of cryptocurrency policy in the upcoming presidential election.

Kamala Harris and Democrats respond on crypto

In a strategic move to repair strained relationships, Vice President Kamala Harris’s team has initiated dialogue with major players in the cryptocurrency sector. This outreach aims to reset the Democratic Party’s stance on digital assets and foster a more collaborative approach.

The Financial Times reports that Harris’s advisers have contacted representatives from industry leaders such as Coinbase, Circle, and Ripple Labs. This initiative comes as the crypto community increasingly backs Republican candidate Donald Trump, reflecting growing dissatisfaction with the current administration’s crypto policies.

The outreach follows a letter from Democratic lawmakers and 2024 candidates urging the party to reassess its approach to digital assets. Harris’s team emphasizes that this effort is not primarily about securing campaign contributions, but rather about establishing a constructive dialogue to develop sensible regulations.

This move is part of a broader strategy to reshape the Democratic Party’s image among business leaders, countering perceptions of an anti-business stance. The Harris campaign aims to project a “pro-business, responsible business” message.

It is predicted by some experts that many new investors will enter the market in the coming months, and they will definitely seek education or knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

One of the most engaging ways for new investors to learn about cryptocurrencies is through platforms that incentivize learning, like 99Bitcoins with its innovative Learn-to-Earn model.

The project is currently in its presale phase and continues to excel in this space, even if it doesn’t sell out as quickly as some meme coins or AI coins.

In this article, we’ll explore what 99Bitcoins offers and provide an update on its presale, which will end soon.

99Bitcoins: Transforming crypto education into a rewarding experience

Before launching its presale, 99Bitcoins has been a leader in crypto education since 2013. They provide comprehensive coverage of cryptocurrencies, industry news, and tutorials. Their YouTube channel has 802 videos and courses totaling 79 hours, with over 100,000 students.

With such a wealth of educational resources, they’ve built a large community, including over 2.8 million email subscribers, 706k YouTube subscribers, and more than 21,000 followers on X. Now, they’ve launched their native token, turning their Web3 education platform into a Learn-to-Earn system.

17% of the token supply is allocated for community rewards, offering many perks for token holders and loyal members. For example, learners can earn free $99BTC tokens by completing educational materials on the platform.

The 99Bitcoins platform has always aimed to help users maximize gains during a bull market, and their new native token enhances this effort. Token holders can access exclusive learning materials, VIP groups, and alpha trading setups and strategies, which could be a game-changer in the upcoming bull market.

The team behind the 99Bitcoins Token isn’t stopping at crypto education. They’re also exploring the new BRC-20 standard on Bitcoin, an experimental token standard that brings Ethereum-style fungible tokens to the Bitcoin blockchain.

This new functionality has excited investors, and the possibility of $99BTC becoming a BRC-20 token is significant as it opens up new opportunities for holders.

$99BTC is expected to follow the success of popular BRC-20 tokens like ORDI, SATS, LEVER, and WZRD this year. The real appeal of $99BTC lies in its potential as a long-term investment.

Staking and airdrops drive strong presale interest

99Bitcoins (99BTC) is getting a lot of attention after announcing its presale closing date. The $99BTC ICO ends on August 6th at 2 PM UTC. The presale will enter its final stage tomorrow, with the token price going up. Investors have less than 24 hours to buy $99BTC at its current discounted price of $0.00115.

The token will launch on August 8th at 11 AM UTC. That’s when investors can start claiming their tokens and $99BTC will appear on a DEX. Although the exchange names aren’t revealed yet, excitement is growing as investors get ready for $99BTC’s debut in the crypto market.

You can explore the potential future of 99Bitcoins through our 99Bitcoins price prediction. This ICO has already raised over $2.5 million, showing strong potential for gains after launch. Many popular traders and crypto influencers are also supporting it as a top presale investment.

99Bitcoins also has a staking protocol for $99BTC with a yearly return of about 674%. Since it started, investors have staked over 1.6 billion $99BTC tokens. People are joining the presale early to get the best deals on both the presale and staking. Discounts and staking returns drop as the presale continues.

To boost interest in the presale, 99Bitcoins is holding an airdrop campaign. They will give away $99,999 in BTC to 99 community members. Presale buyers can sign up for the airdrop on the 99Bitcoins website by following a few simple steps. They have less than 9 days to register, as the airdrop ends on August 6th.

It’s no surprise that the mix of crypto education, BRC-20 goals, and staking rewards has boosted 99Bitcoins Token’s social media presence. The project’s X account now has over 21,800 followers, and their official Telegram channel has nearly 4,800 members.

Overall, 99Bitcoins Token seems to be in a great spot right now. If BRC-20 tokens keep gaining popularity later this year, $99BTC might benefit from it.

While Marvel Rivals on the face of it is just two teams battling it out to see who comes out on top, there are some pretty complex mechanics too.

One particular part of the game that most are a little confused by is SVP since there are no real explainers as to what this is.

If you’ve seen SVP pop up on the scoreboard after finishing a match in Marvel Rivals and want to know what it stands for, read on for this, and why it is actually quite important.

Marvel Rivals SVP: What does it mean?

When you complete a match, like other games of this ilk, there is one player who is branded the MVP (Most Valuable Player).

This is the best player in the whole match and can be awarded for their fantastic healing, insane DPS, kill count, and more.

However, Marvel Rivals also tags someone as the SVP – something you don’t see often in other titles, or ever for that matter.

SVP is short for Second Valuable Player, basically meaning the player with that tag is the runner up in the game, just missing out on the top spot.

Technically, it should be Second Most Valuable Player but we’ll let that slide to have the three letter abbreviation.

While it’s nice to receive some recognition for performing well in the game, it also has a more important meaning if you were to get it in Competitive.

This is because if you’re awarded with SVP and are on the losing team, you won’t lose any Rank Points, great for those who unfortunately get stuck with lackluster teammates.

Therefore, it fosters a need to do well even if you know you’re not going to win a match, which could even influence a late comeback if the stars align.
