Bitcoin’s (BTC) value dropped below $59,000 on Thursday, trading at $58,827.

Market data shows that Bitcoin has fallen 3.38% in the past day, reaching its lowest point since early May despite expectations of a price recovery. Rachael Lucas, a crypto analyst at Australia’s BTC Markets told The Block:

The fall below the $60,000 resistance line is significant as it marks a psychological barrier for many investors. […] If bitcoin remains below this level, we could see increased volatility in the short term.

The recent price fluctuations are largely attributed to the upcoming payout for Mt. Gox creditors, who are set to receive approximately 142,000 BTC (worth about $9 billion) starting in July. This follows Mt. Gox transferring $840 million worth of Bitcoin in late May. Lucas suggested this substantial repayment could exert “significant selling pressure” on the market.

Adding to the uncertainty are concerns about U.S. inflation and interest rates. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell recently stated that more work is needed to control inflation, despite acknowledging progress. Contrary to investor hopes for multiple reductions, the Fed’s indication of only one potential interest rate cut this year has contributed to a risk-averse market sentiment.

Analysts undecided on Bitcoin’s direction

While some analysts had predicted a July rebound for Bitcoin, citing historical patterns, Bit.com’s Chief Marketing Officer Toya Zhang expressed skepticism. Zhang cited low market liquidity and a lack of new crypto narratives as obstacles to significant growth without interest rate cuts.

Zhang also noted an increase in large sell orders at over-the-counter desks, suggesting that high-net-worth individuals and family offices are taking profits from the previous bull cycle. Recent data shows declining trading volumes for U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), with volume dropping to around $800 million on Wednesday.

Lucas concluded by forecasting continued Bitcoin volatility in the coming week as the market processes the Mt. Gox repayments and reacts to broader economic indicators. She added that a rebound might occur if market liquidity remains strong, as has happened following previous significant selloffs.

Amazon’s founder and executive chair, Jeff Bezos, is planning to sell nearly $5 billion in shares of the e-commerce powerhouse, according to a regulatory filing.

This proposed sale of 25 million shares came after trading hours on Tuesday, following the stock’s climb to a record peak of $200.43 earlier in the day. This year, Amazon’s stock has surged over 30 per cent, significantly outperforming the 4 per cent increase seen in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Expectations are strong that the rising demand for artificial intelligence (AI) technology will boost profits in the cloud computing sector.

In February, it was announced that he would sell Amazon shares valued at approximately $8.5 billion. This was the first time Bezos had sold Amazon shares since 2021.

How many Amazon shares does Bezos own?

Following the planned sale, Bezos will retain approximately 912 million Amazon shares or 8.8 per cent of the outstanding stock. In April, Amazon reported strong first-quarter results, buoyed by the surge in artificial intelligence. Last month, Amazon’s market valuation surpassed $2 trillion for the first time.

However, it still trails behind other major tech companies such as Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft, each of which has exceeded a $3 trillion valuation.

Bezos, who is ranked as the world’s second-richest person with a net worth of $214.4 billion according to Forbes, stepped down as CEO of Amazon in 2021 and now serves as its executive chair. He remains the largest shareholder of the company.

He established Amazon in 1994 in a Bellevue, Washington garage during the early days of the internet.

Originally an online bookstore with the world’s largest collection of ebooks, Amazon has since evolved into one of the leading global entities in online retail and cloud computing.

Bezos also founded Blue Origin, a rocket company that, in May, sent six passengers to the edge of space. He is an investor of AI startup Figure AI, which is working to build humanoid robots that can perform dangerous and undesirable jobs.

Flutter Entertainment appears to be taking the United States by storm as its U.K. operations wind down. Among the changes includes the appointment of former Walt Disney Company CFO Christine McCarthy and ex-Liberty Media CEO Robert Bennett to its board.

“Christine and Dob’s extensive experience in the entertainment industry will be an invaluable asset to Flutter as we continue to extend our leading position as a global online sports betting and iGaming provider,” said Flutter board chair John Bryant in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming both Dob and Christine to the Board as non-executive directors and benefitting from their unique perspective and industry knowledge.”

The chief finance officer of the international sports betting and gambling company stepped down in June as the gambling group shifted its primary listing to the U.S.

Paul Edgecliffe-Johnson resigned due to concerns about the extensive time away from his family after Flutter’s relocation to the U.S. The gambling conglomerate, owner of Paddy Power and Betfair, stated it was in Edgecliffe-Johnson’s “best interests” to step down from his roles as chief finance officer and executive director. He had been instrumental in moving Flutter towards its U.S. listing.

A Flutter spokesman said: “Following the need for extensive executive management time to be spent in the United States, the board has recently engaged in a discussion with Paul Edgecliffe-Johnson concerning his ability to meet that requirement in light of his family commitments in the UK.”

Flutter’s success in the U.S. amid controversy

The Dublin-based company made its Wall Street debut in January, with CEO Peter Jackson noting that New York was its “natural home,” aiming to tap into deeper investor funds.

The firm has seen significant growth in the U.S. through its FanDuel business as more states legalize sports betting. FanDuel commands a market share of over 50 per cent in the U.S., with the group procuring around 40 per cent of its revenue from the country.

In the U.K., where online gambling is more established, Flutter and other betting companies have recently acknowledged that some of their past operations may have been harmful, and have discontinued such practices. They have also recognized a responsibility to shield customers from problem gambling amid increasing incidents of addiction, suicide, and gambling-related crimes.

However, in the rapidly growing U.S. market, Dublin’s Flutter and Britain’s Entain — co-owners of the U.S. sports betting firm BetMGM — have apparently not implemented many of the protective measures they adopted in Britain. Unlike the U.K., betting online in the U.S is largely regulated state-by-state.

Despite acknowledging risks to gamblers, Flutter reportedly continues some of the controversial practices in the U.S., according to a Reuters investigation that included corporate filings, company statements, testimonies to lawmakers, job ads, and interviews with gamblers and former employees.

“It is true to say right now the U.S. is in its infancy, and there is less of the kind of protections that you see in the UK,” Entain’s Chief Financial Officer Rob Wood told Reuters. He defended BetMGM’s practices, saying “we don’t apply low standards anywhere.”

co-founded BetMGM told lawmakers: “I am not going to sugar-coat it: 99% of the customers who play on our sites will lose, so you’re probably losing more if you play more.” https://t.co/UDg7LpgTaB

— Tom Bergin (@tombergin_News) July 3, 2024

Flutter in hot water in the U.K.

In the U.K., the gambling giants voluntarily reduced VIP programs that encourage higher spending after spotting the potential risks to gamblers. Flutter has also set up safeguards for bettors under 25, noting that they may be more vulnerable to possible harm. Advocates for gambling addicts pointed out that these firms have agreed to monitor bet affordability and intervene if signs of problem gambling emerge.

In 2018, British regulators sanctioned the U.K. branch of the online gambling firm after it overlooked that the director of an animal shelter was siphoning funds from his workplace to finance his betting habits, costing the charity over half a million dollars across four years. The gambling oversight body forced Flutter to pay approximately $2.8 million for failing to protect customers from clearly unchecked gambling behavior and for not preventing the use of embezzled funds.

In April, shareholders approved moving Flutter’s primary stock market listing during the annual group meeting.

While maintaining a secondary listing in London, the company will no longer be part of the FTSE 100 index.

The post Europol shuts down almost 600 IP addresses in Cobalt Strike cybercrime crackdown appeared first on ReadWrite.

Nearly 600 IP addresses have been dismantled by Europol as part of a concerted effort to tackle cybercrime involving the misuse of the Cobalt Strike security tool. The operation, dubbed Operation MORPHEUS, took place between June 24 and June 28, targeting older, unlicensed versions of the tool commonly used in criminal activities.

“Throughout the week, law enforcement flagged known IP addresses associated with criminal activity, along with a range of domain names used by criminal groups, for online service providers to disable unlicensed versions of the tool. A total of 690 IP addresses were flagged to online service providers in 27 countries. By the end of the week, 593 of these addresses had been taken down,” Europol said in a statement.

Law enforcement teamed up with the private sector to stop criminals abusing Cobalt Strike to carry out attacks.

An action led by @NCA_UK & coordinated from Europol HQ resulted in the takedown of 593 IP addresses linked to criminal activity.

Details https://t.co/yrqiri7G4m pic.twitter.com/jJzrgOPh9t

— Europol (@Europol) July 3, 2024

Operation MORPHEUS was mainly led by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) and involved major contributions from authorities across Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and the United States. Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) also played a role in coordinating international efforts and liaising with private sector partners.

The NCA has coordinated global action against illicit software which has been used by cybercriminals for over a decade to infiltrate victims’ IT systems and conduct attacks.

— National Crime Agency (NCA) (@NCA_UK) July 3, 2024

Paul Foster, the NCA’s threat leadership director, said that although Cobalt Strike is a legitimate piece of software, cybercriminals have been exploiting its use for “nefarious purposes”.

He added: “Illegal versions of it have helped lower the barrier of entry into cybercrime, making it easier for online criminals to unleash damaging ransomware and malware attacks with little or no technical expertise. Such attacks can cost companies millions in terms of losses and recovery.

“I would urge any businesses that may have been a victim of cyber crime to come forward and report such incidents to law enforcement.”

What is a Cobalt Strike attack?

Cobalt Strike, developed by Fortra, is a legitimate and widely used cybersecurity tool designed to help IT security professionals in performing attack simulations to uncover vulnerabilities. However, it can be exploited maliciously when in the hands of cybercriminals. Reports suggest that cracked copies of older versions like Ryuk, Trickbot, and Conti have been used in several high-profile malware and ransomware cases.

We’ve partnered with Europol, the UK National Crime Agency, and several other private partners to protect the legitimate use of Cobalt Strike. https://t.co/8IQWr10YBY https://t.co/gALYztQmdI

— Fortra (@fortraofficial) July 3, 2024

To counteract this threat, Fortra has collaborated with law enforcement to safeguard the legitimate usage of its software. “Fortra has taken significant steps to prevent the abuse of its software and has partnered with law enforcement throughout this investigation to protect the legitimate use of its tools,” Europol stated.

The operation was said to be successful due to the cooperation of private industry partners such as BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, Trellix, Spamhaus, abuse.ch, and The Shadowserver Foundation. The partners provided scanning, telemetry, and analytical tools to identify and curb the malicious use of Cobalt Strike.

Europol’s EC3 has supported this project since it was launched in September 2021, providing analytical and forensic assistance. The Malware Information Sharing Platform was also used extensively, with over 730 threat intelligence pieces shared, containing almost 1.2 million indicators of compromise.

This coordinated crackdown is part of a broader strategy enabled by Europol’s amended Regulation, which strengthens its ability to support EU Member States by fostering cooperation with the private sector. This strategic approach has significantly enhanced the resilience of Europe’s digital ecosystem against cyber threats.

You’ve started your Zenless Zone Zero journey and you don’t want to hang around. Understandable. But with so much to learn and so many places to visit, it is sometimes easy to get distracted and not boosting your character as quickly as you could be, meaning it takes longer to unlock some of those later stages and areas that your friends are already getting to. How do we fix that up? Let’s have a look

Increase Inter-Knot level fast in ZZZ

If you are used to playing games such as Honkaui Star Rail or Genshin Impact you will already have the concept of Inter-Knot down. It’s basically the same as Adventure Rank or Trailblaze in those games, just with a slighter weirder, non-obvious name.

If you want to get towards the mid-to-end game in ZZZ you will need to increase your Inter-Knot level and there are a few ways we can go about this to get it done as efficiently as possible.

Let’s have a look:

Complete the main story

It goes without saying that this is the base way of getting your character at least to where they should be. The main story unlocks new areas of the map but,, most importantly, has lots of XP on offer for its various missions. You may like to stray off the beaten path, but the main story is there for good reason.

Compete your daily tasks

Yes, it’s a bit laborious logging in every day and doing similar stuff. Yes, we know that’s how they get you to log in so they can increase their stats and revenue and yes, for many it is annoying.

Everything resets daily so there will be new missions and XP to be had every 24 hours. If you can get yourself in a routine, they are yours for the taking.

Complete your Combat sims and Expert Challenge daily

More dailies you say, ’fraid so friends. You do want this, don’t you? By completing everything you could be earning 3,000CP a day or 21k a week. That’s big business if you want to progress.

It is all about focusing on that daily routine.

Levels

As you go up the levels you will find that levels 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 will let you level up to the next tier, which can make things more difficult, but also give far greater rewards for a speedier climb through the Inter-Knot ranks!

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has been released, rereleased, ported to different platforms, and updated to within an inch of its life since its launch on 11/11/11, but we’re all pretty saturated now, and we’re ready – where’s The Elder Scrolls 6?

It has been almost 13 years since the release of Skyrim, and while it is astonishingly still being updated, and still has a 30-day peak of over 28,000 players, Elder Scrolls fans have reached the stage of fanatic speculation over a single post on X. So we’ve compiled everything we know into this handy FAQ to make it easier to find all the confirmed information in one place.

When will The Elder Scrolls 6 come out?

The most pressing question on everyone’s lips – what is the release date for The Elder Scrolls 6? Bethesda hasn’t confirmed anything about release dates, or even large stroke windows. We don’t know the year it will come out just yet.

However, we can make a few educated guesses based on things that have been said. Because Bethesda is now owned by Microsoft, documents and testimony from the recent FTC vs. Microsoft lawsuit can give us our first clue – they do not anticipate or predict The Elder Scrolls 6 will come out before 2026, so the game is still at least two years away.

In a 2021 interview with The Telegraph, Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard said it would benefit fans to think of the game as still being in the design phase. He detailed that Creative Engine 2, which the studio used for Starfield, has also been created with TES6 in mind.

Also arising from the hearings, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, said in 2023 that it was “likely five-plus years away,” putting us into 2028 – ten years since the game was revealed by Todd Howard at E3 2018.

Howard has been frank and open about how long a game of the scope of TES6 takes to develop, saying in an interview with IGN that their games “take a while, I wish they came out faster, I really do, we’re trying as hard as we can, but we want them to be as best as they can be for everybody.”

He expressed similar sentiments in a 2023 interview with Lex Fridman, saying “I wish it was soon. We want it out too, you know. I wish they didn’t take as long as they did, but they do. Look, I mean, if I could go back in time it would never have been my plan to wait as long as it’s taken for it.”

In March 2024, it did seem like some progress had been made – in a post on X celebrating the 30th birthday of The Elder Scrolls series, Bethesda mentioned “playing early builds” of TES6.

Howard has acknowledged that the success and longevity of Skyrim have changed how they approach TES6. “People are playing games for a long time, you know, Skyrim’s 11 years old…still probably our most played game and we don’t see it slowing down and people will probably be playing it ten years from now also, so you have to think about, okay, people are going to play the next Elder Scrolls game for a decade, two decades, and that does change the way you think about how you architect it.”

Where will The Elder Scrolls 6 be set?

This is another source of intense speculation for fans. The Elder Scrolls games have all thus far been set on the continent of Tamriel. While the first game, Arena, was set across the entire continent, the rest have been more focused and there are still areas that haven’t been covered in the games.

Where all the Elder Scrolls games have taken place
by ingaming

TES2: Daggerfall was set in a small section of the provinces of High Rock and Hammerfell, but did not cover the entirety of the areas. TES3: Morrowind, covered the whole Morrowind region of Tamriel. TES4: Oblivion was set in the central province of the continent, Cyrodil, and featured the capital city. TES5: Skyrim was of course set in the cold northern province of Skyrim.

This leaves several areas that have never been explored in depth by the games: Black Marsh, home of the Argonians; Most of Hammerfell, which is where Redguards hail from; Valenwood, which is where the Wood Elves (or Bosmer) are from; Elsweyr, which is home to the Khajiit, a cat-like race; and the Summerset Isles, home of the High Elves (or Altmer).

Judging by the teaser trailer, we can probably rule out Black Marsh and Valenwood. The trailer looked more like scrubland, whereas Black Marsh is a swamp and Valenwood is covered in forest. Of course, there could be sections of these places that look like the land in the trailer, but why would Bethesda choose to show off an area that doesn’t represent the larger zone of the game?

We don’t have any official word on where TES6 will be set, but a New Year post from Bethesda at the end of 2020 has given plenty to speculate on.

Transcribe the past and map the future.
Here’s to a Happy New Year! pic.twitter.com/bL44CzLDIE

— The Elder Scrolls (@ElderScrolls) December 31, 2020

People believe that the top candle represents The Elder Scrolls Online, the middle one represents Skyrim, and the bottom one is where Hammerfell would be if the map expanded, as per the caption.

A scratch on the side of a spaceship that might look a little bit like the Illiac Bay. Image credit: Bethesda

To get deeper into the minutiae now, some eagle-eyed viewers spotted a mark on a spaceship in the 2021 Starfield trailer that could, if you squinted, look like the Illiac Bay. Illiac Bay is the area between Hammerfell and High Rock and was covered in Daggerfall, but there’s no reason why it couldn’t be revisited.

Will The Elder Scrolls 6 be multiplayer?

The main Bethesda games have all been single-player to date, with multiplayer efforts being focused on their large MMO games, Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76. Additionally, in an interview with IGN, Todd Howard said they are “absolutely” still committed to single-player games, adding “It’s part of who we are, it’s what we love about games.”

So, it seems unlikely that TES6 will be multiplayer first, though modders have a rich history of making single-player games multiplayer, including Skyrim and Starfield.

What platforms will The Elder Scrolls 6 be on?

Again, while nothing official has been said on this topic, we can look to the details revealed by the FTC vs. Microsoft court case for information here. Bethesda games will always be PC games, that much seems reasonable to assume. However, now being owned by Microsoft means an increased focus on Xbox, so that can certainly be added to the list.

We also know from the filings that TES6 will not be available on PlayStation consoles at launch, just like Starfield. Starfield is also instructive in another way – it has not been released on the older generation of consoles (Xbox One, PlayStation 4), which suggests that TES6 will be current-gen only, whatever that may be when it launches.

Following the success of meme coins, Shiba Shootout (SHIBASHOOT) emerges, poised to attract investor attention with early opportunities.

This new meme coin is nearing half a million dollars in its ICO phase. With early success, some investors are speculating if they’ve discovered the next Shiba Inu.

Its cowboy charm has also attracted deep-pocketed investors and popular crypto influencers, many of whom express bullish sentiments about the project.

Some experts even predict potential 100x gains, potentially driving this meme coin to $1 in the long term.

Shiba Shootout ICO nears $500k – Next 100x meme coin?

Crypto investors are lining up for Shiba Shootout (SHIBASHOOT) as it launches a presale and raises nearly $500k in its initial phase. With a Wild West theme, the project has become a favorite among fans since its presale debut.

As the Shiba Shootout presale approaches its first significant milestone, early investors are purchasing $SHIBASHOOT tokens for just $0.0195 each. However, this initial price won’t last forever. As the presale gains momentum, the token price will rise, rewarding those who get in early.

Participating is straightforward, with Shiba Shootout’s presale dashboard offering payment options in ETH, USDT, BNB, or through card payments to accommodate everyone’s preferences. Looking ahead, the project’s roadmap is ambitious.

Phase 1 outlines plans for listings on CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap, aiming to surpass 1,000 holders, and intends to generate buzz on Twitter. Future phases target CEX listings, the establishment of a gated Discord group, and reaching 10,000 holders.

Shiba Shootout’s tokenomics are equally compelling. The majority of the supply, 770 million tokens, is allocated to the presale, while 440 million tokens are reserved for staking.

The remaining tokens will support project funds, liquidity, marketing, and the “Rootin’ Tootin’ Shooter Fund,” ensuring sustained community support and growth.

Shiba Shootout: Innovative utilities and community rewards

Themes play a crucial role in the success of meme coins, alongside enticing utilities that appeal to both retail investors and savvy traders. Shiba Shootout excels in both aspects, offering diverse rewards for token holders, with Cactus Staking being a key highlight.

Investors can stake their tokens right from the presale phase and start earning rewards. Currently, presale buyers are enjoying a staking reward rate exceeding 2205%, as indicated by the Shiba Shootout staking dashboard.

Holders can also generate passive income through Saving Saddlebags, where locking tokens for a period earns bonus $SHIBASHOOT rewards. Similarly, investors can grow their community and earn “Posse Rewards” by inviting friends through a referral link.

These utilities not only reward investors but also contribute to increasing the token’s value. For example, Cactus Staking and Saving Saddlebags help mitigate selling pressure on the meme coin, while Posse Rewards aim to build a strong community backing.

Shiba Shootout hosts various community-building activities like Campfire Stories, where participants share their crypto and meme coin experiences for attractive rewards. Additionally, participants can engage in Lucky Lasso Lotteries and Token Governance Roundups.

If you haven’t jumped into Zenless Zone Zero yet but are seeing all the chat around the internet about it and fancy giving HoYoverse’s new gacha game a try, it’s best to have a quick scan of the specs you will need to run the game comfortably.

There have been a few issues for some at launch, but at least if your computer matches the requirements you know the fault doesn’t lie with you if you are encountering any issues as you play. Let’s check out what’s suggested.

Zenless Zone Zero system requirements

As usual, we will be giving you minimum and recommended specs. If you can help it and want anything like the best gaming experience you want to be as far north of the minimum specs as possible.

ZZZ Minimum system requirements

OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 7th Gen
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or equivalent
RAM: 8GB
HS: 110GB

ZZZ Recommended system requirements

OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 10th Gen
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 or equivalent
RAM: 16GB
HS: 110GB

As with games such as Genshin Impact, the minimum specs really are quite low by today’s standards. The devs really do want to make the game as playable as it can be to the widest possible audience.

If you want to play it and have it look anything like as good as it can look, however, even those Recommended specs are low. Many people will have much better PCs than that these days so system requirements may not be an issue unless you are looking to play on a laptop or something like that.

Games journalism is a strange world at times. You leap from talking about mass company layoffs, new updates, and patches and, in the blink of an eye, the controversy and outrage of the internet that HoYoverse dared tweak the bodily dimensions of the Nicole character from beta to release. Let’s find out, shall we?

Zenless Zone Zero’s pink-haired, short-shorts-wearing Nicole might be standard anime fayre in some quarters, but it seems she might have been a bit too much even for fans of this sort of game.

Even though Zenless Zone Zeo has been rated 16+ compared to other games in the stable such as Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail were lower at 12+ it seems there may have been a little too much jiggle and wiggle going down for Nicole, so the devs decided she was a bit too sexy for western consumption. Cue outrage and cries of censorship.

If you feel the need to research the change yourself – and you don’t need to – don’t worry I have carried out said research for you – you can see in the video below that the devs have definitely tweaked Nicole’s body shape between Zenless Zone Zero’s beta and launch today.

Does anybody remember the original Dead or Alive fighting games back in the day – games that were entirely sold on the character’s unusual jiggle physics? Well, those halcyon days are behind us friends, but let’s face it, they haven’t exactly dressed Nicole up in a nun’s outfit, just made her a little less imposing and more suitable for the entire audience the game will get, not just a portion of it.

How to unlock Nicole in Zenless Zone Zero

Unlocking Nicole Demara is simple for everybody, simply play through the main story and complete the opening mission and she will be available to you from then on.
