Amazon has announced three more games that Prime Gaming subscribers can access as part of the technology company’s tenth Prime Day event next week.

Not only does this mean a slashing of prices across the website, but additional games have been added for subscribers to claim for free. These include Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Chivalry 2, and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The games can be claimed from next Tuesday (July 16) at midnight PST, with just 48 hours to add them to the libraries through the Epic Games Store.

Amazon Prime Gaming is the membership model that offers free games and in-game loot for select titles. It’s included in the usual Prime subscription.

What are the three extra games coming to Prime Gaming?

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

This will be free to claim for 48 hours and comes just half a year after its initial release. Developer, Rocksteady Studios, announced the delay of the release date of Suicide Squad Season 2, just days before the new content was set to go live.

The game is said to be a “genre-defying third-person action shooter where the ultimate band of misfits must do the impossible: Kill the Justice League.”

Chivalry 2

This game was released in June 2022 and is described by Steam as a “multiplayer first-person slasher inspired by epic medieval movie battles.

“Players are thrust into the action of every iconic moment of the era – from clashing swords to storms of flaming arrows, to sprawling castle sieges and more.”

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Last but not least, this 2016 game often receives rave reviews and was part of a 20-year celebration.

In this game, players can “explore Croft Manor in the new “Blood Ties” story, then defend it against a zombie invasion in “Lara’s Nightmare.”

While needing to “survive extreme conditions with a friend in the new online Co-Op Endurance mode, and brave the new “Extreme Survivor” difficulty.”

The post Jacks or Better Video Poker Guide for 2024 appeared first on ReadWrite.

Jacks or Better is among the oldest and most popular video poker variants available at online casinos. It combines the excitement of slots with the element of skill required for poker.

In this guide, you will learn everything you need to know about how to play Jacks or Better, including the rules, odds, and payout structure. We also provide expert tips on optimizing your gameplay and increasing your winning potential.

What is Jacks or Better?

Jacks or Better is a video poker game in which players don’t play against other people or live dealers but rather a machine. The payout depends on your hand ranking, with the lowest winning hand being a Pair of Jacks.

This video poker variation was one of the earliest to be developed and was released in the 1980s. It quickly gained popularity as it is simple to learn and has one of the highest RTPs compared to other games. By using tips for playing video poker and a simple strategy at online video poker casinos in the US, you could find yourself walking away with some pretty impressive wins.

How Jacks or Better Poker Works

Jacks or Better is incredibly easy to pick up if you’ve played other poker variations before. Even if you are new to poker, it’s still a straightforward game to learn. It’s played with a standard 52-card deck and your payout depends on the strength of your hand.

To begin, you will need to select the amount of your bet. Once you’ve done this, you will be dealt 5 cards. You then have the option of holding up to five of your cards. Any cards you do not hold are then replaced with random cards from the deck and make up your final hand.

You must have at least a Pair of Jacks or Better to win. This is the lowest-ranked hand that is a winner and has a payout of x1. The stronger your hand, the higher the payout, with the largest payout being x800 for the best hand in poker, a Royal Flush.

Jacks or Better Hands Explained

Understanding the winning Jacks or Better hands and those that have the potential to turn into winning hands is essential. Below, you’ll find the winning hand rankings and those with good potential to turn into winning hands after drawing.

Hand Rankings

These are the winning hands in Jacks or Better, from the lowest ranking (Pair) to the highest ranking (Royal Flush).

High Pair: A Pair of Jacks, Queens, Kings or Aces.
Two Pair: Two separate Pairs, for example, K-K and 7-7.
Three of a Kind: Three of the same cards, for example, 8-8-8.
Straight: Five consecutive cards of 2 or more suits. For example, 3-4-5-6-7.
Flush: Five cards of the same suit.
Full House: Three of a Kind and a Pair, for example, K-K and 4-4-4.
Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same value, for example, 9-9-9-9.
Straight Flush: Five consecutive cards of the same suit.
Royal Flush: 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace of the same suit.

Potential Winning hands

These are not winning hands and will not pay out if they are your final hand. However, they have the potential to become strong winning hands based on the cards you draw.

Four to a Straight Flush: When you have four of the five cards needed for a Straight Flush.
Three to a Royal Flush: When you have four of the five cards needed to make a Royal Flush.
Four to a Flush: When you have four cards of the same suit.
Four to a Straight: When you have four of the five cards to make a Straight.
Three to a Straight: When you have three of the five cards to make a Straight.
Two to a Royal Flush: When you have two of the five cards to make a Royal Flush.

How to Play the Jacks or Better Game

When you’re ready to play Jacks or Better video poker, you’ll find that the game is available at both desktop and mobile casinos. Once you’ve selected the Jacks or Better machine, the first thing you need to do is select your stake.

In this game, the stake is represented by coins. You can play with 1-5 coins, but it’s always best to play with 5 coins as it increases the payout of certain hands. The coins had a set value in old machines, but most modern machines let you set the coin’s value.

For example, if you want to bet $2.50 a hand, you should set the coin value to $0.50 and then select 5 coins, as this will be a $2.50 stake (5 x $0.50).

Once this is all set, press the “Deal” button and you will receive five cards. Click on the cards you want to hold, and then click on “Draw”. This will replace the cards you did not hold and give you your final hand. You can simply click on the Deal button again to play again for the same stake.

Jacks or Better Poker Double Up Gamble Feature

After winning a hand in the Jacks or Better game, there are some variants that offer a double-up feature that gives you the chance to double or even quadruple your winnings.

After you have won, you can choose to collect or gamble. If you collect, you receive your Jacks or Better payout in your wallet and can choose to either walk away with your winnings or carry on playing. However, if you gamble, you will be presented with facedown cards with the option of red or black.

If you correctly guess the color, your winnings are doubled. You lose the full payout from your winning hand if you are incorrect. On some machines, the gamble feature works a bit differently.

Instead of choosing red, black, or suits, you are presented with one face-up card, which is the dealer’s, and four face-down cards. You then select one of four face-down cards, and if your card is higher than the dealer’s, your payout is doubled.

Jacks or Better Strategy

Using a Jacks or Better video poker strategy, you can increase the RTP to approximately 99.54%, one of the highest RTPs you will find on any casino game. Knowing when to hold or discard Pairs is an integral part of a Jacks or Better strategy.

High Pair

High Pair

A High Pair (Jacks or higher) is guaranteed money, so you should keep it in almost all instances. Here are some examples of when you may be tempted to break your High Pair for the chance at a better hand, but you shouldn’t:

If you have a Four to a Flush and a high pair you should keep the pair and redraw the other three cards.
If you have a Four to a Straight (either inside or outside straight draw), you should keep the pair and redraw the three other cards.

Although it’s almost always a bad idea to break a high pair, there is one scenario where you should break your high pair. You should break the high pair and redraw one card if you have Four to a Royal Flush.

The chance of hitting the card you need is 46 to 1, which is a 2.16% chance of happening. Yet the payout of a Royal Flush is 800 to 1, which has implied odds of 0.12%, so the potential reward is well worth the risk at this point.

Low Pair

Low Pair

Unlike a High Pair, a Low Pair (10 or lower) is not a winning hand. However, there are scenarios where it is still worth keeping the Low Pair, such as the two below:

If you have four to a Straight, you should keep the low pair and redraw the three other cards.
If you have three to a Straight Flush, you should keep the low pair and redraw the other three cards.

There are instances where it is smart Jacks or Better strategy to discard the Low Pair in hopes of drawing cards to give you a strong hand.

If you have three or four to a Royal Flush, you should keep those three or four cards and redraw the others.
If you have four to a Flush, you should discard the low pair and redraw the card, but not in the potential flush. For example, with a 4♥,4♦,5♦,10♦,J♦, 4♦, 4♥, 5♦, 10♦,J♦ you should redraw the 4♥.
If you have four to a Straight Flush, you should discard the low pair and redraw the card not in the potential straight Flush. For example, with a 6♠,6♥,7♠,8♠,9♠, you should redraw the 6♥.

Pro Jacks or Better Tips

Unlike many other casino games, Jacks or Better involves an element of skill and isn’t 100% chance-based. While it is more luck-based than other forms of poker, like Texas Hold’em, players can implement a Jacks or Better poker strategy to increase their win rate. Here are our top Jacks or Better tips that will help you optimize your gameplay.

Keep a Winning HandKnow When to Keep High CardsPlay for FreeAlways Play With Five CoinsDon’t Push Your Luck

Keep a Winning Hand

One of the most important tips for playing video poker is that 99.9% of the time if you have a winning hand, you should keep it. Sometimes, people want to risk paying hands like a High Pair to chase a stronger hand like a Straight or Flush in the hopes of a bigger payout.

However, the only time when it is a good strategy to do this in Jacks or Better is if you have four of the five cards to make a Royal Flush. In all other instances, players should keep any paying hand.

Know When to Keep High Cards

One of the key elements of learning how to play video poker Jacks or Better is knowing when you should keep or discard High Cards. We recommend keeping High Cards in the following situations:

You have no pair and no potential draw.
You have two different High Cards. For example, K♠, Q♠, 7♦, 5♣, 2♠. Here, you should keep the K♠, Q♠ and withdraw the other three.
When you have a High Card and a Low Pair. For example, 5♠, 5♦, K♠, 8♣, 2♠. Keep the 5♠, 5♦, K♠.
When you have three High Cards.For example, Q♠, J♦, K♠, 5♣, 2♠, keep Q♠, J♦, K♠ and redraw the other 2.

It’s better to discard your High Card in these scenarios:

You have three to a Royal Flush, and one High Card is not part of the potential Royal Flush. For example A♠, K♦,Q♠, J♠, 7♦. Here you would discard the K♦ and the 7♦.
You have a Low Pair with no suited high cards. For example, 8♦, 8♠, Q♣, 4♥, 3♣. Keep the Low Pair and redraw Q♣, 4♥, 3♣.

Play for Free

Lots of top online casinos offer free video poker Jacks or Better. When you first start, you should utilize these demo versions to get to grips with the game, understand all of the hand rankings, Jack or Better rules, and practice a basic strategy.

You should also take advantage of casino bonuses. Many sites provide very generous welcome packages, and you can use this bonus money to play the game without risking your own money but still have the opportunity to win real money.

Always Play With Five Coins

The reason you should play with 5 coins is that, like with many online casino slots, the payout you receive from video poker increases with each coin you use. For example, if you are using 1 coin at a 9/6 machine, the payout for a royal flush is x250, but if you use 5 coins, it’s x800.

Although Royal Flushes are rare, if you play with less than 5 coins, you lose a huge amount of money if it hits. It’s always better to play on a machine with a lower stake than to play with less than 5 coins. If you only have $1.50 max to play each hand, play on a machine with a $0.25 stake per coin and use 5 coins for $1.25 per hand rather than play at a $0.50 stake machine with 3 coins for $1.50.

Don’t Push Your Luck

As we mentioned earlier, many Jacks or Better casinos offer the gamble double-up feature. There’s nothing wrong with using this feature but use it wisely. If you have anything above Three of a Kind, it’s best to stick with what you already have.

Pros and Cons of Playing

There are several variations of video poker games at online casinos. Although Jacks or Better is an excellent variant to play, there are a few downfalls that should be considered. Here is a breakdown of a few pros and cons you can expect to find.

Pros

Can be found at most online casinos
Simples to play & implement a strategy
Has a low volatility compared to some other variations

 Cons

The post How to play Rennsport in VR appeared first on ReadWrite.

The Rennsport open beta is with us, and while we found it pretty easy to just jump straight into the car and start racing, what if you have a VR headset? There is nothing obvious in the menus that lets you take the gorgeous looking race sim and attach it directly in front of your face, but you can, it’s ace and we are going to show you exactly how to do it right here, right now.

Play Rennsport in virtual reality

First things first if you haven’t already you are going to need to head to Epic Games Store, find Rennsport, and add it to your library it’s totally free to play although you can add some extra goodies if you buy one of the three available editions in-game, and you can find out all about those in our previous Rennsport article.

Once you have it installed – it comes in just under 30GB so it’s not a small download, you will need to sign up for a Rennsport account by linking your email, setting up a username, having to re-enter it again because you were stupid enough to put a capital letter at the beginning of your username, verify the email address and then log in via the client.

If it is your first time playing you will need to set up your controls and it is definitely better to do this in flat before trying to jump into VR.

Chances are you will be playing with a wheel and pedals so go ahead and calibrate those, but not, check everything is working with your game controller.

One useful button to bind is the ResetVRPosition which can be found in the Camera Options. Set it to something easy for you to remember that you can just tap with your headset on. I used Spacebar. This will make it easy to realign in game if anything goes weird.

If you have used any VR previously you will more than likely have SteamVR installed already no matter whether you are using something like a Pimax Crystal or a Quest 3. Whatever headset you use, just make sure SteamVR is your runtime. You can do this in the setting, and chances are if you have played any PCVR before it will be, but best to check.

Now we need to tell Rennsport to play nicely with virtual reality so go to your Epic Game Store library where you installed Rennsport and click the three dots to bring up its options.

Now click on Manahe and then Launch Options and flick it on. Now you will get a box and all you need to yupe into this box is -vr.

This will force the executable to run in native VR – don’t forget, if you want to play flat again, you need to pop back in and delete this bit.

The devs suggest changing the “cockpit viewing distance” for an optimal look. This is something you should do before going into VR and can be found under Gameplay, Gameplay Camerasa, and then Distance in the settings.

This will likely change for each car and it is purely a personal preference thing.

At this stage of the game in Open beta expect a rough ride and a lot of bugs, especially in VR but the more data the devs get from people playing, the better and quicker things should progress.

The post How to get Standard Parts in Once Human appeared first on ReadWrite.

As you’re making your way through Once Human, completing quests, defeating enemies, and more, you’ll also want to gather as many items as possible to progress.

One particular resource you’ll definitely need to enhance your base of operations is Standard Parts, integral after you beat the first boss.

However, you may have only been accustomed to Rusted Parts as of now, so we’ll run you through two different ways to get Standard Parts in Once Human.

Where to find Once Human Standard Parts

As previously mentioned, securing Standard Parts is absolutely essential after you take down the first boss since they are required to improve the buildings you would have created.

Thankfully, there are a couple of different ways you can get Standard Parts in Once Human – via disassembling items and searching in junk piles or containers at Strongholds/in the wild Level 10 or above.

Looking initially at disassembling items, it isn’t as simple as selecting them in your inventory to scrap. Instead, what you’ll have to do is go into the Crafting menu, via the Facilities part of the Construction menu, and choose the Disassembly Bench option.

Now all you have to do is select the items in your inventory that you don’t want and disassemble. This will provide you with Standard Parts without having to do really any extra work.

If you’re a little light on items though, you can forage for Standard Parts out in the open world.

For this, you’ll need to head to higher level areas such as Iron River and Broken Delta, rich in a variety of resources such as Tin Ore, as well as what you’re after here.

Now, just do as much searching as you can, keeping a beady eye out for containers or junk piles as these are the key.

While you can just run around and come across them, if you use your Spacetime ability (using the Q key), these will be highlighted allowing for easy spotting.

You will gain Standard Parts this way coupled with a load more junk too, feeding into the first method, creating a loop.

Star Wars Outlaws will be the first truly open-world Star Wars game, and Massive Entertainment’s creative director Julian Gerighty has revealed some details on the map size and scope of the game.

In an interview with IGN, Gerighty revealed the planet where players start their Star Wars Outlaws adventure is Toshara and isn’t actually a planet, it’s a moon, and traveling across the whole surface takes “four or five minutes nonstop” if you hop on a Speeder.

He compared it to one of Ubisoft’s other open worlds to provide context, comparing the planet to “two or three” zones from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

He said that four or five minutes “doesn’t sound like a lot, but once you’re committed it’s a fairly large amount and you are always going to be distracted.” The game’s director, Mathias Karlson, described the “living world system” that helped make their previous open-world games, The Division and The Division 2, a success, as key to making Star Wars Outlaws engaging, especially if traversing long distances.

Star Wars Outlaws’ maps will not be big for the sake of it

Greighty also discussed the kind of emergent gameplay that will come out of this living world system, saying “Every two, three minutes there’ll be something that’s happening, whether it’s an ambush or the empire arresting some civilians or getting into combat with some criminal syndicates. And it’s up to you whether you want to engage or not.”

However, Massive Entertainment has always had a clear plan for Outlaws that they are hoping helps them avoid open-world pitfalls like bloat. They have designed the world to favor variety over size: “So we don’t want things to be just big for big sake. We need it to be contained, always fun, always proposing different activities,” Gerighty said.

If the studio can live up to these promises, Outlaws could truly be the Star Wars scoundrel story we’ve longed for. It releases on August 30, so there won’t be too long til we find out for sure.

Content creator Yousef Saleh Erakat, who goes by Fousey, found himself in a scary situation this week (July 9) as he suddenly became surrounded by police while livestreaming in a parking lot.

Much to his surprise, and that of the people watching him, the Kick streamer and YouTuber was swatted.

This is where a hoax call is made to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed officers to a certain address. Multiple content creators have been swatted over the last few years.

During his stream, a crowd of police officers becomes visible behind Fousey’s car. Once he notices, after he has started his car and is ready to leave, he flinches and rolls his window down after they can be heard shouting at him.

— FearBuck (@FearedBuck) July 9, 2024

The officers can even be heard threatening to shoot him if he didn’t comply, with one saying: “Put your hands up. If you reach for anything you will be shot.”

The streamer did as instructed and declared that he had a dog sitting on his lap while sticking his hands out of the window to show he wasn’t holding anything.

After the police examined the vehicle and spoke with the YouTuber, he was free to go back to his livestream.

Streamers keep getting swatted as viewers make hoax calls

The 34-year-old has been swatted multiple times before during his 24/7 stream marathon. He was also asked to leave a restaurant after a bomb threat was called in from a hoax caller.

He isn’t the only one to be put through this nerve-racking experience, as other content creators have become accustomed to it too.

Beauty YouTuber James Charles said he became a victim of swatting at just 19 years old when police came to his house after a call about ‘bombs and hostages.’

In a storytime TikTok, which was posted in September of 2022, Charles explains how it was ‘traumatic.’

In August 2022, the YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed was handcuffed by police officers after his home was swatted during a livestream. Just a day before, the Twitch streamer Adin Ross encountered a similar experience.

Parents will soon be able to add contacts into their child’s VR so they can chat, call, and send invites to join them in MR or VR experiences under Meta’s new feature.

Parent-managed Meta accounts became available last year, limiting preteens’ access and ensuring they’re only watching content that is age-appropriate, engaging, and enriching.

This has been set up for children aged between 10 to 12.

But now, the technology giant is handing more power to the adults. In a press release, the company writes: “Connecting with friends is part of what makes MR and VR great, and we’re excited to give preteens the option to enjoy age-appropriate, social experiences, managed by their parents.

“Preteens will be able to chat and call directly with parent-approved contacts—as well as seamlessly move between select multiplayer spaces and share experiences with their friends and family.

“They can be part of the Apollo space missions, trek around Mt. Cook in New Zealand, create their singing club, or simply play their favorite games.”

This will give them more of a true experience of Meta Horizon OS which currently allows over 13’s to communicate fully with one another.

The team says they are committed to “building safe, positive experiences for young people.”

How will Meta’s parental measures work?

If a parent-managed account has been created, whoever the preteen follows or follows them is eligible to become an approved contact.

The preteen can request someone to become an approved contact. But, no one can get full sign-off until a parent manually adds them. This is done by searching and adding the user directly from the child’s Following and Followers lists.

Once someone has been added and approved, the child can chat, call, and send or accept invites for multiplayer opportunities.

They’ve made it so adults can delete an approved contact at any time too. And if two preteens want to engage, parents of both preteens need to add them as approved contacts.

The post 5 Best Meme Coins to Buy During the Market Dip – PEPU, WAI, PLAY, SHIBASHOOT, and DAWGZ appeared first on ReadWrite.

The overall market downturn this month prompted investors to seek altcoins that they could potentially buy during this market dip.

At the moment, the market looks quite good, with several coins like VeChain, Bonk, and Jupiter pumping nicely.

Despite a red week and a generally poor month, you shouldn’t be discouraged from potentially dollar-cost averaging into tokens.

We’ll look at five best meme coins that have not yet gone live but launch with a low market cap, giving them the potential to 10x to 1000x.

Pepe Unchained (PEPU)

Pepe Unchained (PEPU), one of the fastest-growing cryptocurrencies, has raised over $3 million in its ICO within a few weeks. Experts predict $PEPU could rival Pepe’s success, with some hailing it as the top alternative.

The development team hasn’t set a fundraising limit, leaving investors curious about the total amount. Currently, $PEPU tokens are priced at $0.0083591 each, with the price set to rise in less than 24 hours, creating a sense of urgency among investors.

$PEPU’s standout feature is its proposed layer-2 network, the “Pepe Chain,” built on existing blockchains like Ethereum. This solution promises faster speeds and lower costs, tailored for meme coins.

The team claims their layer-2 solution will be 100 times faster than Ethereum, facilitating instant bridging between Ethereum and the Pepe Chain. A dedicated block explorer will track all meme trades, blending playful elements into the ecosystem, marking an ambitious initiative.

Another draw is the staking feature, allowing presale participants to boost returns by locking tokens. Currently, staking rewards offer a high 593% APY, expected to adjust as more investors engage.

With its innovative tech, enticing investment incentives, and compelling narrative, $PEPU shows promise in achieving its ambitious goals and potentially emerging as the next big cryptocurrency, following in Pepe’s footsteps.

WienerAI (WAI)

— WienerAI (@WienerDogAI) July 10, 2024

A major factor in WienerAI’s success is its staking program. Currently, 6.7 billion $WAI tokens, representing 64% of total sales, are staked. This high staking rate underscores the program’s appeal, driven by lucrative rewards.

Stakers can earn a 154% annual percentage yield (APY), making WienerAI an attractive option for maximizing returns. Beyond just a meme coin, WienerAI is developing an AI-powered crypto trading bot for $WAI holders, designed to identify market opportunities and boost trading profits.

The bot, featuring an interface akin to ChatGPT, guides users in identifying trading setups and explaining the reasoning behind them. Future plans include introducing additional features like fee-free swaps and decentralized exchange analysis, aiming to assist traders in securing optimal prices.

These tools position WienerAI as a preferred platform for crypto traders seeking a competitive edge. Investors keen on impactful projects should consider adding WienerAI to their portfolios.

PlayDoge (PLAY)

PlayDoge (PLAY), a new Play-to-Earn (P2E) meme coin, has surged in its presale amidst a broader market recovery, securing $5.5 million in funding. During the presale, investors can buy $PLAY at $0.00517, with the price set to rise in just 1 hour.

PlayDoge brings a unique twist to the industry by drawing inspiration from the popular Tamagotchi game that sold over 82 million units in the 1990s. Players earn $PLAY tokens by interacting with their virtual pet, Shiba Inu.

Unlike typical meme coins where tokens are held passively, PlayDoge encourages community members to actively engage with their virtual pet dog. It’s accessible on both the BNB and Ethereum networks, making it widely available.

Additionally, the game will launch on the App Store and Google Play Store, providing a convenient alternative to the original Tamagotchi handheld device. By combining the nostalgic charm of Tamagotchi with the viral excitement of meme coins, PlayDoge appeals to a broad audience.

Analysts predict attractive returns for presale investors, supported by an impressive 89% APY from staking, allowing investors to grow their holdings regardless of price movements.

With its innovative features and practical uses, PlayDoge is positioned for a successful entry into exchanges as a fresh P2E meme coin. To take part in the $PLAY token presale, visit playdoge.io.

Shiba Shootout (SHIBASHOOT)

A new meme coin is gaining popularity in its ICO phase. Shiba Shootout (SHIBASHOOT) has launched successfully, raising over $600,000 in initial funding. With its rapid growth and Wild West theme, investors are speculating on whether $SHIBASHOOT could replicate Shiba Inu’s explosive rise.

During its presale, $SHIBASHOOT tokens are available at a low price of just $0.0195 each. The project’s focus on utility features is a major draw. Token Governance Roundups allow holders to vote on project decisions, promoting decentralized governance similar to a Wild West town.

The Posse Rewards program encourages community growth by offering bonus tokens to referrers and new members. Community engagement is furthered through Campfire Stories, where members share crypto and meme coin experiences to earn token rewards.

Utility integrations include Lucky Lasso Lotteries, where participants use $SHIBASHOOT tokens for a chance to win crypto prizes that support charitable causes. Savings Saddlebags promote long-term holding by automatically allocating tokens to a dedicated wallet, earning extra tokens as rewards.

Early investors can also stake their tokens at an impressive APY rate at 1668%. While it’s too early to predict if Shiba Shootout will match Shiba Inu’s success, this new meme coin is certainly worth watching closely.

Base Dawgz (DAWGZ)

A new dog-themed meme coin is getting attention in the crypto world. Base Dawgz (DAWGZ) has started giving rewards to early investors who hold onto their tokens. The presale has raised over $2.4 million so far, exciting $DAWGZ holders.

Right now, you can buy $DAWGZ tokens for just $0.0061 each. This price will go up in future presale phases, so early buyers can get the best deals. Potential investors can visit our guide on how to buy Base Dawgz tokens here.

$DAWGZ holders can stake their tokens now to earn rewards. It’s like getting paid to keep your tokens. The team has set aside 20% of the total supply (1.69 billion DAWGZ) for staking rewards, paid out every hour over a year.

The current staking rewards are an impressive 2110% APY. But staking isn’t the only feature of Base Dawgz. The team is also starting a Share-to-Earn system that’s creating buzz. It’s simple: Make funny memes, share them on Twitter, and earn points.

After the presale, you can trade these points for more $DAWGZ tokens. It’s a win-win for developers and community members. Now, let’s talk about Base Dawgz’s standout feature: its ability to work on many different blockchains.

Unlike other meme coins that only work on one blockchain, Base Dawgz can run on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, and more. This flexibility is thanks to advanced systems like Wormhole and Portal Bridge.

Overall, Base Dawgz looks promising. With rewards already going out and plans to expand to different blockchains, Base Dawgz could make a big impact in the crypto world.

At this stage, hearing the words “someone got Doom running on…” should hold no power over us. Id software’s 1993 classic can run on basically anything with a screen. But we still collectively lose our minds when someone comes up with a novel method to deliver the Doom Marine to us.

This week, Jackson Clayton, a software developer, managed to get Doom running inside Fortnite. A game within a game.

But can #Fortnite run DOOM?

Obviously I can’t publish this, but it was a great way to learn more about Materials and PostProcessing in #UEFN #FortniteCreative pic.twitter.com/POlf4obJlm

— Jackson Clayton (@JKClayton_FN) July 7, 2024

The way Doom has been incorporated into Fortnite is clever. It looks like the player character is in the iconic opening level in Doom, E1M1, until they hop out a window and start building Fortnite structures – no word on if they can stop the onslaught of hell.

How did someone get Doom inside Fortnite?

Clayton talked about his ingenious methods with Kotaku. He started by opening E1M1 in the Ultimate Doom Builder level editor and exporting the entire level as a 3D model.

He then used the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, an Unreal Engine app that allows users to design, develop, and publish content into Fortnite, to bring the iconic first level of Doom into the modern battle royale game.

A lot of the work was in getting the look just right after importing the model: “It was mostly removing Unreal’s fancy effects to make everything unlit and unfiltered,” said Clayton. “I used Unreal’s material system to give the Doom Marine [sprite its] choppy spinning effect, and a PostProcess material to pixellate the screen and show the gun.”

Because Doom’s code was made open source by id Software in 1997, many of the ‘Doom on a blank’ stories involve getting the 31-year-old software running on whatever outlandish device the dev wants. However, Clayton states that UEFN is “too high-level” to simply run Doom in, leading to the creative result he shared on X.

As for what inspired him, Clayton had an age-old motivation: fooling his friends. “I wanted to put together a video to trick my friends, so I ported the map and created the post-process materials, and they really liked it,” he said. They then encouraged him to post it on X, where it quickly went viral. There’s nothing gaming social media likes more than a new and novel ‘you’ll never guess what they got Doom running on this time’ story.

People are still working on restoring decades-old Doom abandonware and new high-octane Doom action continues apace, with a new (medieval-themed) game in the franchise expected as soon as next year.

Gaming merch is big business. From tat such as keychains to desk accessories such as Funko Pops of Mortal Kombat characters, you can generally express your love for your favorite gaming characters and universes by adding some real-world objects into your life.

Occasionally, certain items of merch stand out not just because of how cool they are, but also because their cost is north of some people’s pay packets. We had things like the official Fallout backpack the other month alongside Fallout blue light glasses – it seems like no sector is immune from having a gaming franchise dropped unceremoniously on it.

More traditional are books. Books about games and books celebrating games are nothing new. Books costing over $1000 however, that’s a new one on us.

To be fair, it looks amazing – and this is also the highest priced of the editions, more of that in a moment.

The book in question is called Grace Given: The Mythology of Elden Ring and is written by Elden Ring lore expert Geough “SmoughTown” Truscott and is more of a collectible piece of art rather than a 50 Shades of Grey type paperback.

“Prepare for a comprehensive deep dive into the mythology underpinning Miyazaki’s latest masterpiece.

Grace Given draws design inspiration from the most prized sacred books of antiquity, culminating in a product that is both a work of scholarship and an unparalleled collectible art piece in the same package.”

So says the blurb on the pre-order page. For your £860, $1000 you get free shipping (cough, thanks) a version of the audiobook and ebook, and a ‘Grace of Gold’ collectible art print, hand-signed and numbered by artist Shimhaq, housed in foil-blocked custom envelope as well as your name as a Benefactor name credit in the back of Grace Given, including any editions released going forward.

The Benefactor edition is only available until 10th August but if you miss out, or can’t afford it there is a Collector’s Edition costing £215 or a nicer, leather-bound Limited Edition, but that will set you back some £602 British pounds.

Have a look for yourself and hit me up on X if you buy one.
