There are a load of quests to complete in Once Human and not all are as simple as getting to a destination on the map.

Carnival of Doom is definitely one of the more hidden and harder to finish side missions that may have left you a bit stumped.

We’ll reveal both how to start and finish the Carnival of Doom quest so you can stop banging your head against the wall on what you’re meant to do.

How to start Carnival of Doom in Once Human

To begin the Carnival of Doom side quest in Once Human, instead of simply chatting to an NPC, it’s an item you’re after.

In fact, it’s a revolver you’ll need to interact with and this is located at the number 17 warehouse in Rift Anchor Junkyard.

One thing to note here though is that you will need to have reached at least level 19 and there are a few enemies you’ll have to take down to get to the revolver, so ensure you’re coming prepared.

After finding the revolver in the warehouse, interact with it and you’ll be transported to the next location.

Once Human Carnival of Doom: How to complete

After interacting with the revolver you’ll be met with Chuckles the clown and your mission is to beat him in a game.

The game in question is Russian roulette, hence the revolver, but it’s actually an impossible task, so you’ll need to do some cheating of your own.

If you follow the black wire from the device on the desk next to Chuckles, you’ll see that there is another clown that is aiding Chuckles in his cheating endeavors.

V will give you some dialogue suggesting you’ll have to take this clown down in order to win. Return to Chuckles and choose the “I need some fresh air” option when it presents itself.

Exit through the large door and around to the left where you can kill the clown. Investigate the terminal he is using and go back to Chuckles.

Accept his challenge and pull the trigger. You will now have succeeded, allowing you to secure the Deviation and finish Carnival of Doom.

The upcoming Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee, has added former U.S. President Donald Trump to its roster of speakers.

Scheduled for July 25-27, this event is among the largest global gatherings focused on Bitcoin (BTC). Trump was announced as a speaker at the event in a July 11 X post by the organizer.

ANNOUNCING: PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP TO SPEAK AT #BITCOIN2024 pic.twitter.com/F2mwECVMTW

— The Bitcoin Conference (@TheBitcoinConf) July 10, 2024

Trump, the likely Republican presidential nominee, has recently shown increased support for cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. At a Mar-a-Lago event, he pledged to promote crypto if elected president. Trump’s campaign also began accepting cryptocurrency donations last month, garnering support from industry figures like the Gemini crypto exchange founders Winklevoss twins and Cathie Wood of Ark Invest.

Not just Trump

The conference will feature other US political figures, including presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and Republican Senators Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn. Kennedy Jr., who spoke at Bitcoin 2023, has previously advocated for inviolable rights to hold and use Bitcoin.

In contrast, President Biden’s campaign has reportedly sought advice on digital asset policies from crypto industry members but has made no significant public statements on the topic. The tech industry group Chamber of Progress has urged Biden to support comprehensive crypto regulation, suggesting Trump has capitalized on the current administration’s lack of clear stance.

Prediction markets currently favor Trump in the upcoming November election. Polymarket users estimate a 63% chance of his victory compared to 13% for Biden.

Cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX has plead guilty to violating the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as announced by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday.

The news follows Bitcoin (BTC) flash-crashing down to $8,900 on the exchange back in March.

Court documents reveal that from September 2015 to September 2020, the Seychelles-based platform intentionally failed to implement proper know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML) protocols. This period ended when the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) accused BitMEX of illegally offering crypto derivative trading to U.S. customers, while the DOJ charged four employees with BSA violations.

During this time, BitMEX allowed near-anonymous cryptocurrency trading without requiring identification or documentation from customers. The exchange marketed itself as a platform for retail trading without real-name verification. Prosecutors argue that these lax standards made BitMEX a hotspot for money laundering and sanctions evasion.

Illegal US operations

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams highlighted the perceived wrongdoings on BitMEX’s part in the announcement. He said:

As BitMEX’s founders and long-time employee admitted in federal court in 2022, the company, one of the leading cryptocurrency derivatives platforms in the world from 2015 to 2020, operated in the United States without any meaningful anti-money laundering program, as required by federal law.

As a result, BitMEX opened itself up as a vehicle for large-scale money laundering and sanctions evasion schemes, posing a serious threat to the integrity of the financial system. Today’s guilty plea indicates again the need for cryptocurrency companies to comply with U.S. law if they take advantage of the U.S. market.

The charges against the exchange mirror those previously brought against its co-founders Arthur Hayes, Samuel Reed, and Benjamin Delo, as well as its first employee, Gregory Dwyer, all of whom have pleaded guilty.

Additionally, BitMEX admitted to lying to a foreign bank to open an account for a shell company, Shine Effort Inc. Limited, controlled by Delo but beneficially owned by BitMEX.

The case, overseen by U.S. District Judge John G. Koeltl in the Southern District of New York, has not yet reached the sentencing stage for BitMEX.

In a world where you can get a copyright strike for using about three seconds of audio from a TikTok video in a reaction video on YouTube, it is a profound rarity to see a company that has been around for decades, take its most valuable asset and say, “here ya go world, have it and do as you will with it.”

CCP Games, the developer of perhaps the grandest video game of all time, Eve Online, is readying its propriety Carbon Development Platform to go Open Source. That’s right, I can use it, you can use it, anyone can use it – the system that made Eve Online. Of course, if I were to use it it would be largely pointless, but in the right hands, the dream is that Eve Online could be around as long as humanity (so, potentially just a few more weeks then the way it’s going).

In a terrific interview with Gamesindustry.biz CCP’s CEO Hilmar Pétursson says, “We want Eve Online to go on forever. Open sourcing the platform that powers it in my view is greatly increasing the odds of that happening.”

“If you look at the macro trends in software, generally code that is open and shared has a higher chance to be robust over a period of time …You can also see this with Unreal Engine, which is a pretty big deal in the industry. The source for Unreal is readily available to everyone – it’s not an open-source project, but the source code is there. It’s immensely helpful.”

Pétursson Is very much aware the shelf-life of game developers is not infinite, telling Gamesindustry that “Companies generally don’t live very long. CCP is already quite an old company by gaming standards. We’re not Nintendo, we haven’t been here for 200 years, but we’re 27 – that’s already quite long because game companies are just not very likely to live for a long time.”

“I know when you give tools to people in a community, they will make awesome things. This is the story of human life, and they will outdo your creativity way more than you think. Every time you try to put a lid on it, you curb the potential. Make it open, and the sky is the limit.”

Shiba Inu is currently striving to bounce back from the recent price drop, aiming to draw benefit from the recent 4.29 trillion SHIB whale volume spike.

With bearish pressure slowing down, several crypto assets seek avenues for recovery. Shiba Inu observes an impressive increase in whale transactions across the board. Interestingly, this spike in whale transactions coincides with a rapid surge in large buys.

On July 6, Shiba Inu saw transactions worth at least $100,000 rise to a daily high of 4.29 trillion SHIB, the largest in nearly two weeks. We see whales actively buying while the Fear & Greed Index currently signals fear.

It’s often said that one should buy when there’s blood on the streets. The whales understand this principle; they buy when others are fearful and are likely to be fearful when others are greedy. Retail investors need to approach this logically.

Currently, investors fear the Mt. Gox situation and Germany selling Bitcoin, with Germany recently selling a record amount in a single day. Interestingly, despite this, Bitcoin closed higher, showing strong market absorption. This market will recover.

The current fear will eventually turn into greed, and those hesitant to buy now may miss out. Retail investors, not whales, often fail to recognize these opportunities.

When recovery comes, Shiba Inu could see significant gains, potentially 2x, 3x, 4x, or even 5x over the next few months. Smaller market cap tokens like Shiba Shootout could see substantial gains, potentially 20x, 30x, or even 50x during a bull market peak.

Shiba Shootout raises over $600k – Next big meme coin?

After the prices of some leading meme coins dropped, investors started searching for high-potential projects. Many discovered Shiba Shootout, which its community believes could be a 100x meme coin gem still in its presale phase.

The new project has quickly built a large community and has raised over $600k in the early stages of its presale, causing it to trend on several social media channels. With its rapid success and Wild West theme, investors wonder if $SHIBASHOOT could follow in Shiba Inu’s footsteps.

Source – Shiba Shootout Twitter

Since it is still in the presale phase, investors can buy the token at the low price of $0.0195 per token. They can purchase the token using ETH, BNB, or USDT, and card payments are also supported, allowing a wider audience to acquire the token before it launches on exchanges.

After the ICO concludes, the team plans to launch on exchanges, likely starting with a DEX launch. Shiba Shootout shows significant growth potential with an ambitious roadmap and a team actively engaging with its community.

The team has already had Shiba Shootout’s smart contracts audited by SolidProof, a step many established meme coins haven’t taken. A smart contract audit thoroughly examines the project’s code for vulnerabilities and issues.

This commitment to security and transparency, combined with unique features, has generated significant buzz on social media.

Shiba Shootout cowboy-inspired utility features

The project has gained attention by focusing on providing value to user investments through utility features. For example, the Token Governance Roundups allow token holders to participate in regular voting sessions on key project decisions, ensuring a decentralized governance system reminiscent of a Wild West town.

The Posse Rewards program incentivizes community growth by rewarding both referrers and new members with bonus tokens.

The project promotes community engagement with Campfire Stories, where members share their experiences with crypto and meme coins, earning token rewards for the most entertaining stories. These are just a few examples of the various utility features the project has introduced.

The Lucky Lasso Lotteries feature allows participants to purchase tickets using Shiba Shootout tokens for a chance to win significant crypto prizes, with a portion of the proceeds supporting charitable initiatives.

Savings Saddlebags encourages financial discipline and long-term holding by enabling users to automatically allocate a percentage of their tokens to a dedicated wallet, where they earn additional tokens as rewards.

Additionally, the project offers Cactus Staking, allowing investors to stake their tokens. Given its early phase, it offers an impressive APY rate of more than 1600%.

For more information about the project, stay updated by following Shiba Shootout’s social media channels on Telegram and X.

Once Human has a bunch of quests that you’ll need to complete if you want to progress in the game.

While the early quests are pretty simplistic, going from A to B, defeating X enemy, things ramp up pretty quickly.

Unfinished Expedition is certainly one of these, and it’s a multi-part affair with puzzles. Here’s how to complete it so you can progress nice and fast.

Once Human Unfinished Expedition: How to complete

After starting the quest, heading to the Lighthouse and reading Denise Cooper’s Journal, you’ll be given three different points of interest where you’ll need to find three of Rosetta’s research documents.

The first of these is right by the Lighthouse on a ship just off the coast. You may be able to just right out of the Lighthouse and glide right down onto it. However, the most reliable way is by heading to the nearby docks, climbing the striped tower, and landing on the ship.

The front of the ship is where the document is at so just go straight there and pick it up off the ground.

For the second document, things get a little more interesting as you’ll need to complete an optical puzzle to gain access to it.

You’ll first need to go to Rosetta Army Base and on the side of the building is the optical puzzle in question. It is pretty simplistic as you’ll just need to align the photo on the building with the half that is on the shipping container.

The issue here is that it is a little finicky as it needs to be an exact match. What we recommend is that you either turn your mouse sensitivity or DPI down so that you’re able to slowly get it right in line.

After, a door will appear where the photo was. Go inside and collect the last document, completing this section of the quest.

The third document is a little trickier than the second as you’ll be needing to kill an elite enemy in order to progress.

Go toward your final POI where you should be able to see a hospital. You’ll need to go in here but first, kill the required enemy near the close by helipad and pick up the Rosetta V2 Access Card.

Now go into the hospital and on the second floor will be a computer you need to use. This will bring up a puzzle that you’ll need to solve. This is pretty simplistic as you’ll just have to rotate the pieces around until they line up correctly.

Once done, you’ll be granted access to the third and final document.

This brings the quest to an end and all that’s left is to speak to Claire to finalize things.

The post What is Perplexity AI? A guide to the search engine compared to ChatGPT appeared first on ReadWrite.

Perplexity, described as a “Swiss Army Knife for information discovery and curiosity,” is essentially an AI-enhanced search tool.

It combines ChatGPT and Google Search elements, yet it isn’t a direct substitute for either. The platform is similar to the direction Google is taking with Gemini, but appears to be less chaotic.

It provides a list of websites relevant to your query, along with a concise summary answer and the sources used to generate it. Sometimes, the summary alone suffices, while other times, you might explore the various sources for deeper insight.

Although Perplexity cannot fully replace traditional search engines, it proves to be surprisingly functional and effective within its limits. It’s even been hailed by the likes of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

Who owns Perplexity?

Perplexity, founded in 2022, was co-created by Aravind Srinivas, Denis Yarats, Johnny Ho, and Andy Konwinski, all engineers with expertise in AI, machine learning, and back-end systems.

Yarats is the current CTO and previously was an AI research scientist at Meta. CEO Srinivas has a background with OpenAI as an AI researcher. Chief Strategy Officer Ho has experience as an engineer at Quora and a quantitative trader on Wall Street. Konwinski was part of the initial team at Databricks.

By 2024, Perplexity successfully secured $165 million in funding, reaching a valuation exceeding $1 billion. Its investors include prominent figures and firms such as Bezos, Nvidia, Databricks, Bessemer Venture Partners, Susan Wojcicki, Jeff Dean, Yann LeCun, Andrej Karpathy, Nat Friedman, and Garry Tan.

What is Perplexity AI used for?

Perplexity works like an advanced chatbot, answering queries while seamlessly integrating recent articles. It indexes the web daily, so you can ask about the latest news, sports scores, and other common search topics. This indexing capacity is so effective that it can provide real-time updates, like the latest scores from Wimbledon, which we tested out.

The search engine pulled in live results

The platform, which the company describes as continuously updating, also remembers the context of each interaction, storing them as “Threads.” This means any previously provided information is considered in subsequent queries. It also suggests “Related” search queries to expand your exploration.

What sets Perplexity apart is its transparency with sources. It lists references and provides footnotes for every piece of information, making it a viable alternative to traditional search engines. You can explore deeper into any topic rather than just accepting the AI-generated explanation, which isn’t always correct.

How to use Perplexity AI

To maximize your interaction with Perplexity, here are three main tips.

Use the platform’s smart search functionality

Use the platform’s smart search functionality to upload files for a detailed context or use two to three keywords for simpler queries. This approach lets you quickly find the answers you need.

Personalize your experience

Secondly, personalize your experience by adjusting settings in your AI Profile, such as language, output format, and tone, making Perplexity more tailored to your preferences.

Manage your privacy

Finally, manage your privacy and collaboration effectively. Your interactions, by default, remain private, but you can opt to share them publicly. Use Threads and Collections for teamwork or conduct shared research, customizing these features to suit your requirements.

Quick Search delivers rapid, straightforward answers
Pro Search explores deeper, tailoring responses to the specifics of your question. It may even pose follow-up questions to refine its responses further.

The main thing is that the process remains consistent. It understands the query, searches for relevant information across websites and articles, and then summarizes the findings.

For instance, we inquired about the benefits of consuming five fruits and vegetables daily, Perplexity used its large language model (LLM) to interpret our interest in health benefits. It then found authoritative health sites discussing these benefits, providing a succinct summary.

Sources are added to the top of the search

Both Quick and Pro searches offer similar information, though Pro Search might explore topics more thoroughly or provide specific dietary recommendations. Perplexity also developed its responses with images and videos and even allows users to generate custom images, making the experience far more interactive.

Does Perplexity AI use GPT?

Perplexity relies on several large language models (LLMs) to deliver its natural language processing features. This ensemble includes models like GPT-4, Claude 3, Mistral, and custom models developed by Perplexity itself. These LLMs are important for accurately interpreting user queries and providing concise summaries of the relevant information.

Is Perplexity better than ChatGPT?

If you’re turning to Google, Bing, or another search engine for answers, Perplexity can probably work as well. It tends to be better than traditional search engines by providing quick responses and is far more reliable than other chatbots when providing useful responses. Google Gemini offers a similar experience but Perplexity has some advantages.

Typical chatbot queries generally include tasks like trip planning and recipe fetching, however, the results sometimes appear to be subpar. Perplexity improves on these by pulling data from multiple web sources instead of relying only on an LLM, which means there is more reliable information. You can also check out the original articles it summarizes, adding an extra layer of verification.

By using multiple sources, it was able to provide an answer where one source didn’t have all the information

What’s rather useful is its handling of information. For example, when we presented it with the challenging request to “Give me a recipe for someone with a diet that is pescatarian, diabetic, gluten-free and lactose-free,” Perplexity was able to it was able to provide a detailed and accurate response by mixing a group of sources.

A newly introduced Pro Search feature has made its AI capabilities with multi-step reasoning even more effective, as it can now link together multiple searches. This upgrade was first made available to web and iOS users last week and has now been extended to Android as well.

We’re excited to announce an updated version of our Pro Search that can perform deeper research on more complex queries with multi-step reasoning, Wolfram|Alpha, and code execution. pic.twitter.com/BW4mXsAyIZ

— Perplexity (@perplexity_ai) July 2, 2024

Pro Search can also now solve mathematical problems through an integration with Wolfram Alpha and to execute code, so it can compute far more challenging equations.

Perplexity AI features

Powered by a large language model (LLM), it has a few more advanced features that fare better than a traditional search engine:

Using its Pro search, it engages with users by asking clarifying questions to refine results, removing the need for you to constantly manually adjust your search terms. Users can easily ask follow-up questions or request modifications to the answers provided. Perplexity also supports documents and images, providing more comprehensive results
Perplexity is also able to generate images relevant to any queries or create text based on the information it retrieves
It also lets you organize searches—or “Threads”—into collections of related ideas, apply specific prompts to each Thread within a collection, and even share particular Threads with others.

The platform is accessible through mobile apps and two Chrome extensions. One of the extensions adds Perplexity as your default search engine while the other integrates its functionalities into any web page, so users can summarize content or answer queries directly from the site you’re viewing.

Is Perplexity reliable?

Though it is not yet a complete replacement for traditional search engines or general AI chatbots, it does a good job of gathering, presenting, and organizing information.

That being said, Perplexity’s team claims that they’ve taken steps to ensure accuracy. However, like all LLMs, Perplexity occasionally hallucinates details.

When searching for this journalist’s name, it incorrectly claimed that I had “experience in the film industry, having worked on an Oscar-nominated film,” which was sadly not true. Nonetheless, it did accurately provide a significant amount of information.

Like all chatbots, Perplexity AI does hallucinate facts

While such errors are not entirely unexpected, they showcase that although Perplexity is pretty good at accessing recent information and disclosing its sources, it is not infallible.

Is Perplexity AI free?

Perplexity is currently accessible via its web app, mobile applications, and a Chrome extension. You can begin Quick Searches at no cost and without needing to register an account.

For more advanced searching capabilities, Perplexity Pro is available for $20/month, giving users access to hundreds of Pro Searches a day.

However, the updated Pro Search feature is not yet available in all areas.

To check if it’s available in your region, enter a detailed query and click the Pro Search toggle. If Perplexity does not break up the query into multiple searches, it means that the feature has not been enabled in your area.

Spotify is expanding and going beyond the limits of music as it adds more engagement opportunities for creators and listeners.

On Tuesday (July 9) the streaming service announced the arrival of comments and dubbed it as a “brand-new way for podcast creators to interact with their fans.”

This means listeners can directly comment on the podcast episodes that they’re listening to. At the same time, the company has launched a new app called ‘Spotify for Podcasters’ which aims to make it easier for content creators to manage their shows.

This feature expands on the Q&A and polls functionality which was introduced in 2021, with the team saying comments have been “a long-requested feature from both podcasters and Spotify listeners.”

The design of the comments section looks similar to YouTube and TikTok and acts in the same way.

Although, after writing out the message, listeners will see a pop up saying: “Comment will be published. Anytime you like a comment, the original comment and your like will be published on Spotify.”

Creator of the podcast ‘How to Take Over the World,’ Ben Wilson, explains why comments add a new layer to his shows: “As a podcast focused on the lessons we can learn from history’s greatest leaders, I’m always curious about which takeaways resonate most with my audience.

Comments on Spotify provide me that invaluable feedback, which makes creating my podcast that much more rewarding and allows me to build a stronger connection with my listeners.”

What is the new Spotify podcasting app?

On the other side, the podcasting app will provide greater visibility into insights and statistics, so creators can track their growth in real time.

“We’ve kept our promise to manage and update your show on the go, but we rebuilt the Spotify for Podcasters mobile app to work for all podcasters, regardless of where their show is hosted,” the team wrote in the press release.

There will also be notifications for when the feedback arrives if the show makes it onto a Spotify chart, or when it hits a new milestone. The ability to manage comments left by fans will be possible too.

Just like we covered Flight Sim Expo 24 a couple of weeks ago, it seems the right thing to do to cover the similar event that is held in honor of the giant of (weird) gaming that is Farming Simulator.

It’s astonishing how games such as this and American Truck Simulator have captured the imagination of players who don’t necessarily want to be chopping up orcs all the time and yearn for some nice, peaceful repetitive tasks to chill out to.

The hugely successful farming sim has a faithful following and over 3.500 of them recently turned up in Germany at the HQ of Fendt, where most of the famous tractor manufacturer’s tractors are built.

It was the biggest farmCon to date and celebrated the launch announcement of November’s upcoming Farming Simulator 25, the first new game in the series for a couple of years.

With a series of presentations taking the audience through gameplay, maps, and a look at the game’s new engine from senior devs, visitors had the chance to try their hand at tractor driving, as well as get a tour of the huge production facility.

Giants Software CEO Christian Ammann commented: “Our ever-growing community continues to amaze us with their unwavering enthusiasm. This year’s FarmCon truly demonstrated how unique, engaged, and passionate our fans are. We want to thank all of our attendees for making this our biggest event yet, and we look forward to the future with Farming Simulator 25.”

Swiss studio Giants Software was formed in 2004, and since 2008 over 30 million units of Farming Simulator have been sold across consoles, mobile and PC.

Farming Simulator also has a competitive eSports league – the FSL which has been going since 2019.

There’s a lot you didn’t know about Farming Simulator isn’t there? It is available on Xbox Game Pass if you want to try it out for free.

First announced three years ago, Square Enix has taken its time to get all its ducks in a row before tipping its hand over the much anticipated RPG at the Nintendo Direct in June.

Now is has revealed some more details (hat tip to Gematsu for translating) about the much-anticipated remake of the classic JRPG, including some gameplay footage (though the videos are in Japanese, you can still get a sense of the style). Read on to find out more.

Release date and platforms

The Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake will be released on Thursday, November 14, 2024, as a simultaneous worldwide release.

It will be available across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

It’s your sixteenth birthday and you are the child of legendary hero Ortega, the hero of Aliahan. You’ve been summoned to complete the job your father could not – defeat the Archfiend Baramos.

What’s the story?

The king has summoned you to do the duty of any noble hero – do what your father could not do, and save the world by defeating the Archfiend Baramos. Explore deserts, forests, towns, and castles; make friends and form alliances; help the locals in exchange for the information you need.

What is HD-2D?

HD-2D is a style of graphics that puts 2D character sprites in rich 3D backgrounds. It maintains the feel of classic 2D RPG games while bringing the graphics into the modern era with added detail, enhanced lighting, and shaders. Octopath Traveler 1 & 2 are iconic HD-2D games.
