This really does seem to be renaissance times for driving and flight simulators. Everybody is recognizing that the hardware is there now to create hyper-realistic experiences both in the air and on the track. Peripheral companies are getting in on the act and home simulators are being built the world over – more on that in readwrite Gaming soon.

Now, GIANTS Software, the studio behind the behemoth that is Farming Simulator and its upcoming 25 iteration has signed a deal with Straight4 to publish the ambitious race sim Project Motor Racing.

We have just got Rennsport and Assetto Corsa Evo is in the pipeline, so what’s the deal with this latest kid on the block?

Project Motor Racing is being developed by Ian Bell and his team of award-winning developers who said: “Our partnership with GIANTS is the last piece of the puzzle for the development of Project Motor Racing. “It’s fantastic news not only for our studio but the sim racing genre as a whole.

“Those who are familiar with GIANTS’ best-selling franchise will recognize why this partnership is going to refresh the sim racing genre in ways that the community is going to love.”

Bell is basically the don when it comes to recent motor racing sims, and his studio Straight4 had been working on GT Revival, which now becomes Project Motor Racing, but his other credits lie as creator of games such as GTR, GT Legends, Project CARS, Need for Speed, Shift and Test Drive

GIANTS CEO Christian Ammann said, “We are very excited about Project Motor Racing and welcome Straight4’s genre-leading talents with their decades of know-how recreating the world of adrenaline-fueled motorsports to our simulation venture,”

Bell’s Straight4 studio features many of the key talents that have shaped sim racing’s heritage for over two decades. With over 20 years’ worth of remote work experience and working from three continents, Straight4 Studios’ veteran staff have earned dozens of industry awards.

Further information on Project Motor Racing is to follow soon once the dust of the deal settles and we can’t wait to see what Ian and GIANTS can do with it.

Major record labels have banded together to sue Verizon for violating copyright law by serving those accused of music piracy.

On Friday July 12, major record labels including Universal, Sony, and Warner have alleged that internet service provider Verizon has violated copyright law by continuing to offer services to those accused or pirating music, as reported by Arc Technica. The complaint, filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, claims that Verizon “knowingly provides its high-speed service to a massive community of online pirates.”

Universal, Sony, and Warner claim that they have sent more than 340,000 copyright infringement notices to Verizon between them since early 2020.

“Those notices identify specific subscribers on Verizon’s network stealing Plaintiffs’ sound recordings through peer-to-peer (‘P2P’) file-sharing networks that are notorious hotbeds for copyright infringement,” the lawsuit reads.

Verizon has allegedly ignored those notices, with the lawsuit adding that “Verizon has knowingly contributed to, and reaped substantial profits from, massive copyright infringement committed by tens of thousands of its subscribers.” The plaintiffs are claiming to be owed damages of up to $150,000 for each work infringed. Considering that the plaintiffs have filed what is described as a “non-exhaustive” list of infringed works including 17,335 titles, that would suggest final damages could reach over $2.6 billion.

Music piracy and internet providers

This isn’t the first time record labels and movie studios have filed similar lawsuits against internet providers, with an ongoing case involving Cox Communications fighting a $1 billion jury verdict since 2019.

In the Verizon case specifically, record labels claim that thousands of Verizon subscribers “were the subject of 20 or more notices from Plaintiffs, and more than 500 subscribers were the subject of 100 or more notices.

One particularly egregious Verizon subscriber was single-handedly the subject of 4,450 infringement notices from Plaintiffs alone.”

Two others were also allegedly the subject of 2,703 and 2,068 infringement notices, respectively. Although Verizon has acknowledged it received those notices, the company has allegedly not taken sufficient action to address “illegal use of the network”.

According to copyright law, any party knowingly assisting someone engaging in copyright infringement is also liable for that crime. The lawsuit also complains that Verizon doesn’t make it easy enough for copyright owners to file complaints about its customers.

While you might want to experience College Football 25 on your own, there may come a time where it gets a little stale and you’d like to get your friends in on the action.

This is especially true for College Football 25’s Dynasty mode where you’re able to invite your friends on your journey in becoming the next best coach.

Here, we’ll teach you how to invite friends to Dynasty Mode in College Football 25 so you can share the path to building the top team.

How to invite friends to Dynasty in College Football 25

While you might think a simple ‘invite friends’ button would be available, you’d sadly be wrong.

Instead, it is a little more of a convoluted system, requiring you to change up some settings.

You’ll first have to start an Online Dynasty, so if you haven’t done that already, get that created. Do this by choosing the Dynasty option in the home screen and selecting Cloud Dynasty, progressing through the next parts of the setup.

Now, in the Dynasty mode, go to the Dynasty Central tab, and into the League Settings option.

Scroll down to the Online Commissioner Settings where you should be able to select either a public or private option. Choose which you prefer but if it is Private, you’ll need to note down the name and password to give to your friends.

Head back to the Dynasty Central tab and now choose the Members option. This will bring up the users in your Dynasty. Hit Y/Triangle depending on your input and you should now be able to select your friends via either Online ID or Friends List.

How to fix invite friends to Dynasty in College Football 25 not working

However, with all of the above being said, there have been some launch issues, with some not being able to complete the steps.

To correct this, the most successful methods have been to either delete your current Dynasty and try to create a new one, or completely quitting out of College Football 25 and opening up the game again.

This should allow you to get the job done but there are some hiccups happening right now so you may just have to wait.

I feel like we have enough of an understanding at this stage that we both know I am going to try and crowbar some horrible pun in here. So far I have gone through Pokecrocs and Crocomon but feel as though I need a few more paragraphs to get there. Leave it with me.

Yes, that’s right, fans of comfortable footwear, often worn in operating theaters around the world, and small make-believe animals that you can’t see, rejoice – the Pokemon x Crocs collab is soon to be upon us.

Note at this stage neither brand has confirmed this isn’t just AI-related tomfoolery – for example, that big image above? I just put “a croc shoe featuring a Pokemon design” into Ideogram and 20 seconds later, I am a fashion designer to the stars.

The information about the collaboration comes from the sneaker website Sole Retriever which says we will be getting Crocs, priced at $70 featuring Jigglypuff, Charizard, Gengar, and Snorlax.

COMING SOON: Pokémon x Crocs Classic Clog Pack

— Sole Retriever (@SoleRetriever) July 13, 2024

The release date is sometime during 2024, but Pokemon, and indeed Crocs it seems are timeless so there is no urgent rush to get something out to capitalize on a game release. They aren’t Palworld Crocs, are they?

Crocs isn’t shy of a collaboration with recent join-ups with Disney and a genuinely terrifying get–together with McDonald’s Hamburgler (I will let you google it, it is too extreme for this page).

Many previous limited collaborations are totally sold out and can exchange hands for silly money amongst croc collectors, which is very similar to what anything to do with Pokemon does too. It’s the perfect match and if you manage to get your hands on a pair, the sensible option would be to leave them in a box to grow old graciously and then one day be worth enough to buy a home for your children who will look at them in horror and say ‘Did people used to wear those?”

By the way, I can’t even think of a pun for this, sorry about that but if you want to see some other recent gaming collabs check out the Fallout backpack or this super-expensive Elden Ring book.

Datamining of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire has revealed that earlier versions of the games carried different names.

Two dataminers, KmiE_821 and Wobbuu, have revealed that exploring the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire files has uncovered some early alternate names for the games. It’s unclear whether the names were only ever intended for internal use or if the duo went through some pre-release re-branding.

After all, Ruby and Sapphire marked a new change for the Pokemon naming habits, switching to gemstones rather than colors.

This was paired with a steep graphical upgrade, meaning the ‘upgrade’ in the quality of the names was quite fitting. However, the earlier names of the games seem to suggest that it wasn’t always the plan to veer away from colors.

A fork in the road for Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire

The data mining revealed that Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were originally referred to in two script files as “藍バージョン” and “朱バージョン,” or “Indigo Version” and “Crimson Version.” They shared their findings on X via KmiE_821’s profile.

Me and @Wobbuu were looking at some RS files. We found “藍バージョン” and “朱バージョン”. Translated as “Indigo Version” and “Crimson Version”, they are apparently earlier names for Sapphire Version and Ruby Version. pic.twitter.com/0nxKRdCcBx

— farore.gba (@KmiE_821) July 14, 2024

Of course, these are translations from the Japanese and there’s no guarantee that these names would have been used in English-language promotion – or indeed at all.

Other potential translations for vivid red shades like ‘vermillion’ could also arguably fit. After all, there are actual references to both Indigo and Vermillion within the series, with the Indigo League and Vermillion City.

It’s certainly plausible that Indigo and Crimson/Vermillion could have been early working names for the games.

They certainly stuck with the same red/blue color palette, even with the final names being Sapphire and Ruby. However, it’s worth remembering that they could just as easily have been placeholder titles and only ever intended for internal use.

Elsewhere, other intrepid Pokemon hunters have uncovered clues for a potential new region, sparking speculation about the future of the franchise.

The post Majority of people believe AI like ChatGPT is conscious, finds poll appeared first on ReadWrite.

Two-thirds of people believe AI has some form of consciousness or feeling and could affect how people interact with machine learning systems.

A recent survey from the University of Waterloo revealed that most people (two-thirds) believe that AI tools like ChatGPT have some form of consciousness and can experience feelings and memories. This is not true but consumer-facing large language models tend to adopt a conversational style when in use, which might be causing the confusion.

The researchers from the University of Waterloo argue that, if people believe that AI has some level of consciousness, it could affect how people interact with AI tools. Believing an inanimate tool has feelings and thoughts could mean people develop social bonds with the models.

While at first, this would result in more trust in the tools, it could eventually lead to emotional dependence, reduce human interactions, and overly rely on AI around critical decisions – despite being repeatedly proven to not be infallible.

“While most experts deny that current AI could be conscious, our research shows that for most of the general public, AI consciousness is already a reality,” said Dr. Clara Colombatto, professor of psychology at Waterloo’s Arts faculty.

Is ChatGPT conscious?

The survey covered a stratified sample of 300 people in the US, asking if they thought ChatGPT had the capacity for consciousness, as well as a variety of other mental states like the ability to make plans, reason, and feel emotions. They also asked how often they used the tool.

The results showed that the more people used ChatGPT, the more likely they were to attribute some level of consciousness to it.

“These results demonstrate the power of language because a conversation alone can lead us to think that an agent that looks and works very differently from us can have a mind,” said Colombatto.

“Alongside emotions, consciousness is related to intellectual abilities that are essential for moral responsibility: the capacity to formulate plans, act intentionally, and have self-control are tenets of our ethical and legal systems. These public attitudes should thus be a key consideration in designing and regulating AI for safe use, alongside expert consensus.”

This is especially important as AI models are becoming increasingly more intelligent and able to reason on deeper levels.

But just to be clear, ChatGPT is a tool for generating human-like text and can perform a multitude of language-based tasks. It does not possess consciousness or self-awareness…yet.

There must be an air of despair this morning amongst those who have slaved away to nearly finish Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 – a sequel that has been over a decade in the making. You sit down at your desk for the day ahead and browse a few game news sites and the first thing you see are stories that a build of the game from two weeks ago is now rampaging freely around the internet as a torrent.

You can’t get it back. You can’t pull it down, it’s a torrent, and it’s seeded everywhere now. Stupid people playing it are uploading footage to YouTube and they are getting hit by copyright strikes but this is a small win. All your efforts of the past few years have been stolen and distributed before anybody ever got the chance to say ‘Well done, thanks for your hard work.’

The life of a dev is hard enough. These days you get laid off for merely completing a project on time to keep the margins up so it’s especially harsh when all that work is in the gleeful hands of those who dabble in the darker arts of game piracy and then judge you on something that isn’t even polished up yet.

The build circulating isn’t finished completely but it’s totally playable, even in multiplayer. It is beyond ridiculous that this has leaked and it is high time companies took some responsibility for securing their assets properly and protecting their staff from this kind of mental trauma.

At a board meeting further down the line, it may well be brought up that the game didn’t sell as well as expected because of this leak. Profits are down, people need to be laid off. No. You need to protect your assets better and blame those who need to be blamed.

It’s a massive peeve of mine when my data gets leaked by a big company and I get a “maybe you should change your password” email. No, I should be able to keep my password. If I want the same password on multiple sites, I should be able to do that. What should be happening is you secure your servers enough so I don’t have to change my password. These companies force me to hand off my data anyway and then leave it lying around on the coffee table for anybody to take. Then somehow it is my fault for having the same password.

It’s the same here. You have worked on a game that is important to your company for years, how do you let a 70-odd gig torrent through the door? Or Disney, one password, and the entire Slack is your oyster.

I know it’s not as easy as it sounds but I probably don’t care. As a journo I have to sign NDAs at the like to even look at software in advance and there will have been builds sent out for evaluation to stakeholders and the like – how do you keep track of them all – no, I actually don’t care. You just need to do it. For the sake of all those people this morning who are feeling so dejected at a heinously bad lack of security somewhere.

The post Hottest AI Meme Coin ICO Ends Soon – Next AI Crypto Coin to Explode in 2024? appeared first on ReadWrite.

The countdown has begun for one of the best crypto presales of 2024, WienerAI (WAI), which has already raised over $7.4 million.

The project has overcome the crypto market slump and is gearing up for its exchange launch, with only 15 days remaining to participate in the presale.

Investors should move quickly to capitalize on the potential for substantial gains in this year’s hottest meme coin launch.

Let’s delve into why this coin holds so much promise and what distinguishes it from others in the market.

WAI meme token presale enters final stage

WienerAI’s ongoing crypto presale is set to end on July 31st. This announcement has created significant FOMO around the new meme coin, which has already raised over $7.4 million in its ICO so far. The total amount raised could be much higher by the end of the month.

Investors can go to the WienerAI website and use the over-the-counter widget to connect their wallets. They can then swap ETH, BNB, or USDT, or use a bank card to purchase the token. During the remaining presale period, $WAI will be priced at $0.00073. Potential investors can visit our guide on how to buy WienerAI tokens here.

After the presale, WienerAI will launch on decentralized exchanges (DEXs), including Uniswap on the Ethereum network and PancakeSwap on the Binance Smart Chain. This launch will make the token accessible to a wider audience, and centralized exchanges might also list $WAI, which could boost its price potential.

With the project’s presale momentum, analysts expect continued strength once WienerAI is available on exchanges. The price could be significantly higher after its initial exchange offering (IEO), with some crypto influencers suggesting potential returns of up to 100x.

See what the future holds for WienerAI with our $WAI price predictions here. For the latest updates, follow WienerAI on X or join its Telegram group.

WienerAI trading bot features could be the next big thing in crypto

Experts call WienerAI “the ultimate meme coin” for a reason. As the name suggests, it combines memes with advanced AI utility. Its memeable mascot, a cute dog-sausage hybrid with a good-boy smile, has caught the attention of meme coin fans and is going viral on social media.

WienerAI plans to launch its own AI-powered Trading Bot, marketed as the ChatGPT of crypto. Token holders can enjoy seamless swaps, MEV protection, and portfolio tracking. They can ask any market-related questions and get detailed answers, including crypto price predictions and trading setups.

Consider WienerAI the ChatGPT of crypto.

Not only will the Bot find winning trades with unrivaled accuracy and give meaningful reasoning for its suggestions, but WienerAI is Swap-Enabled–meaning you don’t have to leave the App to place your trades. (3/4) pic.twitter.com/5HFpCmVOHh

— WienerAI (@WienerDogAI) June 11, 2024

It’s rare for small investors to have access to such tools without extra costs. WienerAI’s Trading Bot could be a game-changer, especially in a bull market. Investors can also stake their $WAI holdings and earn attractive passive income, with current rewards over 150%.

With the crypto market turning bullish, everything is aligning for WienerAI’s exchange debut. However, with just 15 days left in the presale, prospective buyers must act quickly.

Former English Premier League player Nicklas Bendtner has launched Legendary Gaming Group.

The EPL journeyman had been playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive during the pandemic. According to Esports Insider, the former bit-part player has started his own gaming group.

Bendtner commented, “My own role in the company will be an active one, but what the exact title will be is not 100% decided yet, as it also depends on what roles the other sports profiles coming in will have.”

Former Arsenal footballer Nicklas Bendtner has launched an esports-focused investment company called Legendary Gaming Group.

The company has already acquired majority stakes in several esports companies including 100% of Danish organisation @SNG_Esports.https://t.co/x6ch7TsYla

— Esports Insider (@esportsinsider) July 15, 2024

Bendtner hopes to hit the target with Esports company

The former Danish international has acquired New Breed Agency, Legendary Arena, and a gaming brand that is yet to be announced.

The new site, propped up by Morten Jensen, Bendtner, Atle Stehouer, Stephen Shine, and Jonas Rosbech, says:

“Legendary Gaming Group offers a premier esports experience, blending elite talent development, cutting-edge scouting, and thrilling events. We collaborate with top brands, NGOs, and sponsors to create impactful partnerships. Join us to elevate your gaming journey and be part of the future of esports innovation.”

Legendary Gaming Group has also snapped up Danish Esports organization Team Singularity. Stehouwer told Esports Insider:

“In October last year, I was able to obtain all the shares in Team Singularity as the previous majority owners were looking to sell their shares. I’m thrilled and honored to have found a proper home for Team Singularity under the Legendary Gaming Group wings and to have been able to bring a strong ownership group together to form the foundation of Legendary Gaming Group.”

Legendary Gaming Group will hope that Bendtner’s erratic form doesn’t continue into his Esports life. Before signing, Juventus’ director general Giuseppe Marotta told reporters, “Clearly, he isn’t the top player we wanted, but we needed reinforcements.”

Bendtner famously proved that point, winning the league with Juventus without scoring a single goal in all competitions.

We are never short of rumors flying around on the internet, many are false but the law of averages says that some turn out to be true. There are people out there who follow the games they love to religiously that they do not miss a trick when it comes to any portion of news about it. Of course, that can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. Is this one? We don’t know right now, nobody is confirming anything, but it would appear as though something might be going on.

The Sims 5 – which has been going under the codename of Project Rene is a strange one. Sims 4 is probably one of the most popular franchises of all time and Rene appeared to be riffing off that a little, allowing huge amounts of player customization and even the chance to play on mobile. All this with us not even having a Switch version of Sims 4? Is Project Rene even a true Sims 5 is a question that has been asked countless times.

Well, if the rumors turn out to be true, a more pertinent question would be, does Project Rene even exist anymore or has it been shelved, much like the other recent Sims competitor in waiting, Life by You?

All rumors have a source and this one comes from a dev who had been working on the project listing it as canceled on his bio. Several other devs who had been working on Sims 5/Rene also seem to have been moved across to Sims 4 – a game that looks like it is never going to leave us.

Former Rene dev now working on Sims 4

It would be incredible if Sims 5 had been canned in total. If true, this may just be a redirection if Maxis were unhappy with the way it was going. We shouldn’t read anything final into the words of one person on his CV but there is, as ever, no smoke without fire.

Sims 5 listed as cancelled in this resume

The Sims is such a beloved (money-making cash-cow of a) franchise the Sims 5 would be a license to print more money – if they got it right. Having seen other such loved games like Cities Skylines take a massive hit with its sequel, EA and Maxis know they need to get a follow-up to The Sims 4 right. The internet is an unforgiving place these days and recovery from a poor launch, while not impossible is difficult.

All speculation at this stage, we shall, as ever keep our beady eyes peeled.
