Stephen King confirms he’s working on a new Dark Tower story, but don’t get excited just yet
Stephen King has confirmed that he’s working on a new story set in The Dark Tower universe.
The Dark Tower has been on Stephen King’s mind for months now.
After weeks of dropping hints on X (formerly Twitter) over the summer, the horror master finally said what a new story set in the universe of his eight-book series might look like — and now he’s confirmed that he’s actually got something in the works.
“I’m back in Mid-World…and the Territories,” wrote King over the weekend. “Don’t know if it will develop into anything–I never know–but it’s good to be back.”
Obviously there’s not much to go on there. We don’t know what the length of this new story might be (it could be a short or a full-length novel), or really anything about the plot. But King does mention “The Territories“, which feature in both the main series and King’s other novels that he co-authored with Peter Straub, The Talisman and The Black House.
Of course, we also don’t know if this story will ever actually see the light of day. King’s post makes it clear that he’s in the early stages, and isn’t even sure if it will “develop into anything.” But for fans of The Dark Tower, even the possibility of a return to Roland Deschain’s world is exciting news.
