Adobe tests live co-editing on Photoshop
Photoshop is officially becoming a team project. Adobe has announced the creation of live co-editing on Photoshop, allowing multiple individuals to simultaneously work on the same file from different computers. If you’re sick of waiting around for a document back then this is probably great news, but, if you’re keen to only share the final product, then you might not want to alert your boss.
Adobe suggests a slew of uses for live co-editing in Photoshop, such as collaborating with other designers, allowing clients to directly edit and comment on a document or having students follow along to a teacher’s lesson. To be fair, my design skills might be better if I had that option during my college Photoshop class.
The feature isn’t completely finalized, with live co-editing only available in beta testing right now — though the company does offer a similar feature in Adobe Express. You can sign up to be part of the beta testing group here if you want to test it out for yourself. You can also look at competitors like Canva, which already offers real-time collaboration. Sigma announces two more prime lenses for Canon cameras, but I’m still waiting for full-frame third-party glass
Sigma announces 16mm F1.4 and 23mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary lenses for the Canon RF mount.
Sigma launches existing 16mm F1.4 and 23mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary lenses for Canon RF mount
The lenses cost $439 / £389 / AU$617 and $549 / £479 / AU$817 respectively
That makes six Sigma RF-S lenses, but none yet for full-frame
Sigma has launched two fast-aperture prime lenses for Canon mirrorless cameras; the 16mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary and 23mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary. They join four other Sigma lenses available for the Canon RF mount, all of which are designed for crop sensor (APS-C) models such as the Canon EOS R7 and Canon EOS R100.
The new lenses increase the total number of Sigma ‘RF-S’ lenses to six in all, and are the first wide-aperture primes; the 16mm lens has an equivalent 24mm focal length, while the 23mm lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length.
Both lenses offer popular focal lengths with fast f/1.4 apertures, ideal for working in low light and for creating shallow depth of field portraits – I personally relied on a 35mm f/1.4 Sigma lens for a number of years while doing documentary photography in East Africa.
Sigma has set the price of the 16mm F1.4 lens at $439 / £389 / $617, while the 24mm F1.4 costs $549 / £479 /AU$817. These are reasonable prices when you consider the proven optical performance from Sigma Contemporary lenses, plus the fact that Canon equivalents would likely be pricier – should Canon ever launch them.

6 and counting, but what about full-frame?
Canon kept its lens mount closed to third-party lenses makers longer than rival brands, a move that frustrated some fans, especially given how few lenses Canon has launched for its APS-C cameras. That all changed in April 2024 when Canon gave the key to its RF-mount door to Sigma and Tamron, and we have six existing Sigma lenses rolled out for the RF-mount already.
All of these lenses are for Canon’s APS-C cameras, which somewhat addresses the biggest strike against beginner mirrorless Canon models like the EOS R10: limited lens choice.

Meanwhile, Canon has been very active in launching new lenses for its full-frame cameras, like our 2024 Camera of the Year, the EOS R5 Mark II. However, we’re yet to see full-frame lenses from Sigma and Tamron.
To us, it looks like Canon is taking care of its full-frame lenses while leaving the APS-C lenses to third-party manufacturers like Sigma. That’s not a bad approach; however, it’s only a matter of time before Canon fans demand that the likes of Sigma start making affordable full-frame lenses for Canon.

New High-Speed Technology Paves Way for Apple Intelligence Upgrades
Apple has backed a technology that could contribute to future Apple Intelligence advancements.
The consortium behind the “Ultra Accelerator Link” or “UALink” technology today announced that Apple, Alibaba, and Synopsys have joined its Board of Directors. The three companies will contribute to further development of the technology.
UALink is described as a “high-speed, scale-up interconnect for next-generation AI cluster performance.” The consortium is aiming to release UALink 1.0 in the first quarter of 2025, and it will enable data speeds of “up to 200Gbps per lane.”
The technology could pave the way for faster and more efficient Apple Intelligence servers.
“UALink shows great promise in addressing connectivity challenges and creating new opportunities for expanding AI capabilities and demands,” said Becky Loop, Director of Platform Architecture at Apple. Loop added that “Apple has a long history of pioneering and collaborating on innovations that drive our industry forward.”
It is not clear if or when Apple will adopt the technology, or if it is merely interested in helping out the overall AI industry.
Apple Intelligence servers are currently powered by the M2 Ultra chip, and they are expected to start using M4 series chips this year. In an eventual move away from Mac chips for server use, The Information recently reported that Apple has been developing a new AI server chip that will offer even faster performance for AI workloads.Tag: Apple Intelligence

A NASA astronaut may have just taken the best photo from space—ever
During his third stay in orbit, Pettit is absolutely killing it.
People who appreciate good astrophotography will no doubt be familiar with the work of Don Pettit, a veteran NASA astronaut who is closing in on having lived 500 days of his life in space.
Pettit is now in the midst of his third stint on the International Space Station, and the decade he had to prepare for his current stay in orbit was put to good use. Accordingly, he is well stocked on cameras, lenses, and plans to make the most of six months in space to observe the planets and heavens from an incredible vantage point.
Ars has previously written admiringly of Pettit’s work, but his latest image deserves additional mention. When I first saw it, I was dazzled by its beauty. But when I looked further into the image, there were just so many amazing details to be found.
Our favorite budget wireless earbuds are down to a record-low price
The Anker Soundcore Space A40 wireless earphones are now back to their Black Friday and Cyber Monday price, dropping from $80 to $45. These earbuds have made it onto our list of the best budget wireless earbuds and won first place.
This pair of earbuds boasts some great features, such as sound customization using the Soundcore app and multipoint connectivity, which lets them connect to two devices at once. Of course, they have active noise cancellation (ANC) to block out background noises. The ANC is unexpected for headphones at this price range, and it’s adaptive and has adjustable levels.
The sound profile of the Soundcore Space A40 earbuds is warm with a boost in the upper-bass, but the higher frequencies have some cutting, which can reduce the clarity of some finer details. However, the bass profile is still pleasant and not overwhelming like many cheaper earphones have.
The earbuds have a battery life of 10 hours on a full charge, but the case adds 50 hours more, an impressive number. The case also supports wireless charging. The main downside is that quality when using them for voice calls isn’t great, but if you stick to tunes you’ll likely be happy.
