Star Wars Outlaws PS5 players may be in danger of losing their save file if they install the latest update

A new Star Wars Outlaws patch released specifically for PlayStation 5 has affected some players save files.

A new Star Wars Outlaws patch released specifically for PlayStation 5 has affected some players’ save files.

Last night, Ubisoft sent out an email to certain PS5 players and informed them that they are required to install the latest patch intended to address a series of bugs, as well as implement a 40FPS mode, which seemingly wasn’t present in some copies at launch.

However, the publisher noted that Patch 1.000.002 may cause save files to become corrupted and advised players to start fresh otherwise they’ll be faced with game-progression issues.

“To best experience the Outer Rim, we rolled out a maintenance to make sure everyone is playing the latest version of the game,” the email reads (via IGN). “As one of the players affected who had access to an older version of the game, we are aware you might be encountering some issues after this recent patch. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

“Once you’ve confirmed you have the latest version, please start a new save to fully enjoy Star Wars Outlaws as our team intended. If you continue on a prior save you will unfortunately face issues and progression blockers.”

Massive Entertainment’s open-world Star Wars game is now available three days ahead of its official August 30 release date for those who purchased the Gold Edition for $109.99 / £94.99 or the Ultimate Edition for $129.99 / £114.99.

Players affected by the latest patch, and put in hours of game time during the access period, will now be forced to begin their adventure all over again.

“Bit of a bummer because I spent several hours in it last night and restarting would kill a lot of hype for the game for me,” one Reddit user wrote.

Another said, “I’m disgusted. Paid $110 and played all night, 12 hour stretch. This is how Ubi thanks us??”

Ubisoft has since released another statement (via GamesRadar) that provides some additional context into the matter, as well as offered compensation rewards for PS5 players affected by the issue, including a trinket for their ship and Ubisoft Connect Units.

“On August 27, our teams identified an issue where some PS5 players were playing on a previous version of the game,” a Ubisoft spokesperson said. “We quickly deployed an update and informed affected players to ensure their game was updated to the latest version (1.000.002) and advised that they begin a new save to avoid additional issues and progression blockers.

“We’ve followed up with affected PS5 players today to inform them we have provided them an in-game Trailblazer trinket as well as 100 Ubisoft Connect Units (to redeem for in-game rewards, for example) to make their return to the Outer Rim a little more special.”

Yelp Sues Google For Antitrust Violations

Yelp has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google, accusing the search giant of maintaining its local search monopoly by preferencing its own services over competitors, harming competition and reducing quality. “Yelp claims that the way Google directs users toward its own local search vertical from its general search engine results page should be considered illegal tying of separate products to keep rivals from reaching scale,” adds The Verge. From the report: Yelp wants the court to order Google to stop the allegedly anticompetitive conduct and to pay it damages. It demanded a jury trial and filed the suit in the Northern District of California, where a different jury found that Google had an illegal monopoly through its app store in its fight against Epic Games.

The company was emboldened to bring its own lawsuit against Google after the DOJ’s win in its antitrust case about the company’s allegedly exclusionary practices around the distribution of search services. Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman told The New York Times that following that decision, “the winds on antitrust have shifted dramatically.” Previously, he told the Times, he’d hesitated to bring a suit because of the resources it would require and because he saw it as the government’s job to enforce the antitrust laws. “Yelp’s claims are not new,” Google spokesperson Peter Schottenfels said in a statement. “Similar claims were thrown out years ago by the FTC, and recently by the judge in the DOJ’s case. On the other aspects of the decision to which Yelp refers, we are appealing. Google will vigorously defend against Yelp’s meritless claims.”

Unofficial Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra renders make it look less like the Galaxy Note

Renders based on information that’s leaked so far point to a look that’s more like the Galaxy S25.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 leaks have started becoming more frequent in recent weeks, and we now have some unofficial renders giving us a better idea of what the Galaxy S25 Ultra might look like – and it seems to be moving away from the old Galaxy Note aesthetic.

These renders are courtesy of well-known tipster Ice Universe (via 9to5Google), and show a flagship smartphone with corners that are a little more rounded than those on the current model – see our Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra review for details.

That would make the phone more like the other handsets in the Galaxy S25 range in terms of its looks, rather than continuing the tradition of square corners that the now-retired Galaxy Note adopted (the last Note launched in 2020).

The Ultra phones have carried on from the Note series in some respects, including stylus support. In fact, there’s recently been a rumor that Samsung is thinking about bringing back the Note name by rebranding the Ultra.

‘Still not perfect’

Apart from the rounded corners, there’s not much in these renders that we wouldn’t expect based on the current handset – though it also looks as though the side rails are going to get even flatter than they are already.

Bear in mind that these aren’t images that have been leaked from Samsung or anywhere else – they’re specially created renders, produced from the rumored information and insider knowledge that has emerged about the premium smartphone up to this point.

These renders are described as “still not perfect” by the tipster who posted them, and we don’t get a shot of the back of the phone. The handset is apparently going to be thinner and lighter than ever, when it shows up – most probably in January 2025.

While we’ve seen leaks around extra RAM and a bigger screen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, we haven’t seen much in the way of renders. Some images posted in March suggested there would be minimal changes from the look of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Astro Bot creative director says there’s “no chance” of a PSVR 2 version

Astro Bot’s creative director stresses that the upcoming game won’t be getting a PSVR 2 version.

Sorry, PSVR 2 owners. It looks like Astro Bot won’t be getting any support for the VR headset.

This was confirmed in an interview with the upcoming game‘s creative director, Nicolas Doucet. MinnMax‘s Ben Hanson posed the question as to whether Astro Bot will make it to PSVR 2, to which Doucet replied: “no chance,” adding that “it would be a different game.”

While this is probably not the answer many PSVR 2 owners would’ve wanted to hear, it’s understandable. Astro Bot: Rescue Mission for the original PlayStation VR was designed from the ground up for the headset, meaning many of its gameplay elements could only work in VR. Much like Astro’s Playroom before it, Team Asobi seems set on developing the best console experience that it can.

In better news, Doucet doesn’t shut down the possibility of a PC version of Astro Bot somewhere down the line. When asked if he has a message for PC players who’d like to play the game, Doucet replies: “Well, we want to hear from you. Absolutely, we want to hear from you.” Not a concrete yes, then, but at least the door is open there.

Astro Bot is slated to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 6. A full-fledged 3D platformer that celebrates PlayStation’s rich history while also making full use of the DualSense wireless controller’s functionality.

The game is also set to feature more than 150 PlayStation character cameos. Like previous games in the series, such as Astro’s Playroom, we’re expecting plenty of deep cuts here – which has us excited.

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 post-launch roadmap highlights upcoming modes, maps, and weapons

The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 year one roadmap reveals some of the free and paid content coming to the game.

In some good news for those currently looking forward to Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2, developer Saber Interactive has shared a post-launch roadmap telling us exactly what kind of free content to expect after the game arrives next month.

The first major update drops in September to coincide with the beginning of the first season. It includes a number of quality-of-life improvements such as ultrawide support, the ability to create private PvE lobbies, and the arrival of the Battle Barge Sparring Arena. While these additions will be available to all players, those who own the paid season pass will also receive the Ultramarines Cosmetic Pack to help their space marine stand out from the crowd.

There’s even more free content on the way when the second season starts later this year, though. It brings new PvE missions, the challenging ‘Lethal’ difficulty, a new weapon called the Neo-Volkite Pistol, and a new enemy type to defeat. Those who own the season pass will also receive the Dark Angels champion pack, cosmetic pack, and weapon skin pack.

The updates won’t stop at the end of the year either, with 2025 bringing two new seasons to dig your teeth into. Season three adds a new PvE mission, a new PvP game mode, new PvP Arenas, a new enemy, PvE prestige ranks, and it expands the battle barge that is to be added in season one. Season pass owners can also expect new champion packs, a cosmetic pack, and a weapon skin pack.

This will then be followed by season four, which introduces a new horde mode, a new enemy, and a new weapon. Season pass owners will again receive new champion packs, a cosmetic pack, and a weapon skin pack.

On the whole, it seems like there’s going to be no shortage of reasons to keep coming back to Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2. With a good balance of free and paid content, the third-person shooter is shaping up to be a real treat for Warhammer 40,000 fans. It is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S on September 9.

Durex India suffers embarrassing data leak, customer data breached online

Customer names and information about their orders, could be accessed by third parties following breach.

The Indian arm of Durex has suffered a security breach that saw a hoard of sensitive customer data stolen.

A security researcher by the name of Sourajeet Majumder reached out to TechCrunch recently with the news of the leak at the company’s Indian operation. He noted the website for Durex India lacked proper authentication on its order confirmation page, which made it possible for unauthenticated users to access private customer data.

The data includes customer names, phone numbers, email addresses, shipping addresses, the products ordered and the amount paid.

Confirmed claims

We don’t know exactly how many people are affected by this error, but apparently, they are in the hundreds.

“For a brand dealing with intimate products, ensuring privacy is crucial,” Majumder said.

TechCrunch says it has managed to confirm the researcher’s claims, and says the data is still available and that the exploit can still be replicated. Because of that, the details of the error are being withheld until Durex India fixes the issue.

Following his discovery, Majumder reached out to India’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) which “acknowledged his email.”

“Affected customers can also become victims of social harassment or moral policing because of this leak,” he said. They can also be targeted by convincing phishing emails, impersonating Durex and tricking people into downloading malware, giving away payment data, or more.

So far, neither Durex, nor its parent company Reckitt, discussed securing the information, despite being asked by the publication. At the moment, we don’t know if any malicious actors discovered the data, or managed to exfiltrate it, but given that the news is now out there, and that the bug can be replicated, it’s safe to assume that it is only a matter of time.
