The trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s zombies DLC has risen

A new Zombies mode is headed to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. A new cinematic trailer released on Friday shows that the DLC will take players to a small town called Liberty Falls infested with the running dead.
The trailer starts in a picturesque piece of America with an old-timey song setting the tone. Then everything goes to hell and our unnamed hero wakes up in a post-apocalyptic world from what was just a nightmare all along. He receives a bulletin that the running dead are on their way so he picks up a shock rifle to start popping off some zombies’ tops. The big reveal at the end features some kind of menacing villain that feels like a cross between ZAX from Fallout 76 and GLaDOS from the Portal games.

This is just a premature judgment based on the trailer but it looks and sounds a lot like Fallout, another game that takes place in a world where humanity ends and mutant humans roam the landscape.
There’s no official wide release date for Black Ops 6’s Zombies DLC or any indication that it will or won’t be available when the game launches on October 25. The first gameplay footage of the Liberty Falls maps and story mode will premiere on August 28 at Call of Duty NEXT in Washington DC. Open beta access will start on August 30. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/gaming/the-trailer-for-call-of-duty-black-ops-6s-zombies-dlc-has-risen-191550462.html?src=rss

Apple Testing Four New M4 Macs Ahead of Fall Launch

Apple has ramped up testing of four new Mac models equipped with an M4 chip, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Apple is planning to refresh the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac with M4 chips this year, and we could see the new models sometime in October.

The four machines have base-level M4 chips, according to developer logs. Three of the Macs have a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. The fourth machine has an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU, which is not an M4 configuration that we’ve seen so far. All four of the M4 Macs have either 16GB or 32GB of Unified Memory.

The M4 used in the 256GB and 512GB iPad Pro models has a 9-core CPU and 10-core GPU, while the chip used in the 1TB and 2TB models has a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. The high-end iPad chip is the same chip that will be in some of the Mac models.

Gurman does not mention M4 Pro or M4 Max chips, which would be used in higher-end ‌Mac mini‌ and 14-inch MacBook Pro models, as well as the 16-inch MacBook Pro. M4 Pro and M4 Max chips would have a higher number of CPU and GPU cores, as well as more maximum memory.

It is not clear if Apple is only introducing lower-end models with the standard M4 chip, or if there are plans for M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max models but those higher-end chips simply weren’t seen in the developer logs.

Prior rumors have suggested that both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models would see a refresh, and Gurman previously said that the new, slimmer ‌Mac mini‌ that’s in the works will be available with both M4 and M4 Pro chip options.Related Roundups: iMac, MacBook Pro 14 & 16″ , Mac miniBuyer’s Guide: iMac (Neutral), 14″ & 16″ MacBook Pro (Caution), Mac Mini (Caution)Related Forums: iMac, MacBook Pro, Mac miniThis article, “Apple Testing Four New M4 Macs Ahead of Fall Launch” first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums

Linux Creator Torvalds Says Rust Adoption in Kernel Lags Expectations

Linux creator Linus Torvalds expressed disappointment with the slow adoption of Rust in the Linux kernel at the Linux Foundation’s Open Source Summit China. In a conversation with Verizon executive Dirk Hohndel, Torvalds said, “I was expecting updates to be faster, but part of the problem is that old-time kernel developers are used to C and don’t know Rust. They’re not exactly excited about having to learn a new language that is, in some respects, very different.” This resistance has led to “some pushback on Rust,” he said. “Another reason has been the Rust infrastructure itself has not been super stable,” he added.
