A lawsuit alleging that Morgan Stanley assisted Elon Musk in secretly acquiring a stake of over 9% ownership in Twitter (now X) has been filed as an amended suit in Manhattan, brought by the Oklahoma Firefighters Pension and Retirement System.
The lawsuit alleges that a Morgan Stanley banker advised the Tesla owner on how to continue to acquire stocks in Twitter without alerting the wider market, reports Bloomberg.
According to the suit, Musk’s failure to disclose his ownership of over 5% of the platform artificially kept share prices low and allowed Musk to acquire over 9% of Twitter without a market response. The stock price eventually saw a major hike when the degree of Musk’s ownership became public.
There was a March 24 deadline to disclose his ownership of over 5% of the social media site, which he failed to meet, instead reporting his over 9% ownership on April 4. Share prices rose by 27% on April 4.
Elon Musk’s defense
Elon Musk argued last year that the suit is frivolous and should be thrown out, suggesting that it is simply designed to “harness the spectacle” of his $4 billion dollar purchase of the site. However, in September, a judge ruled that an amended suit could proceed.
Msuk has worked with Morgan Stanley on several ventures previously and the suit alleges that they earned nearly $1.5 million in commissions when they executed the billionaire’s “secret Twitter stock acquisition scheme.”
The unnamed Morgan Stanley banker worked directly with Musk and his business manager Jared Birchall (also CEO of Musk-owned Neuralink) to obfuscate the stock acquisitions Musk was undertaking. The suit cites the banker providing updates on “trading strategies to avoid public detection” and “‘money saved’ by hiding these trades from the market”.
Musk is under scrutiny over the purchase from multiple sources and has been ordered to answer questions from a federal judge concerning his purchase of Twitter after previously refusing to attend an interview.

ChatGPT’s free tier just got a massive upgrade – so stop paying for ChatGPT Plus
With all of the free improvement coming to ChatGPT, why would you pay for it?
Following its GPT-4o announcement during its Spring Update event, OpenAI has finally made its new AI tools available for free to everyone, begging the question: Is there any point paying for ChatGPT?
With ChatGPT-4o, all users can now access more advanced tools like discussing files and photos you upload to ChatGPT. The generative AI can also conduct data analysis and create charts, and it can access the internet to inform its responses.
However, with all of these features rolling out to everyone – even if they come with usage limits for non-paying users – there’s a big question of if people should stay subscribed to OpenAI’s premium tier for ChatGPT.
It’s not like ChatGPT Plus has become entirely obsolete. Subscribers still have exclusive features like the ability to create custom GPTs, higher usage rate limits with 4o, and first access to new features – this includes early access to Voice Mode when it launches “in the coming weeks.”
But it’s understandable why subscribers feel a little burned. They’re paying $20 (around £16 / AU$30) per month for a service that’s not that different from the free one. Unless you’re an AI power user, now’s seemingly a terrible time to sign up for ChatGPT Plus.
Thinking long term

So why would OpenAI want to make its premium service less appealing? Well, there are two prevailing theories.
The far-fetched one is that OpenAI will soon release an early version of GPT-5, or at least some kind of exciting new features that’ll be exclusive to its paid members beyond the voiced version of ChatGPT. It’s not out of the question, though this feels like something OpenAI would have mentioned during its Spring Update event on May 13, so color us skeptical.
The likely reason is that OpenAI is changing track to focus on bringing in as many users as possible, rather than paid ones, at least for now.
That’s because a report recently revealed that hardly any of us use ChatGPT and other AI tools in our day-to-day lives. If OpenAI wants people to get excited by its tools it can’t then lock the best features away behind a paywall.
What’s more, ChatGPT’s rivals – like the Meta AI and Google Gemini – are free to use and offer many of the same premium tools at no cost. If it’s already a struggle to get people to use AI when it’s free, you can bet it’s significantly harder with a paywall in the way.
We’ll have to wait and see if ChatGPT Plus gets any improvements in the coming weeks, but if you’re currently subscribed (or thinking of joining) you might want to hold off for now.

The United States Justice Department (DOJ) has made a significant stride in cybersecurity by announcing the dismantling of one of the world’s biggest botnets – 911 S5 Botnet.
The digital cabal was a hotbed of fraudulent activity, child exploitation, cyber-attacks, and bomb threats, says the DOJ.
YunHe Wang, a People’s Republic of China national and St. Kitts and Nevis citizen-by-investment was arrested as the ringleader of the operation.
DOJ cracks down on botnet
Wang is charged with the creation, operation, and maintenance of the illegal residential proxy service that would come to be known as “911 S5,” the court-authorized international law enforcement operation found.
An indictment unsealed on May 24 placed the timeline of activities from 2014 through July 2022. In this period, Wang and his accomplices are alleged to have compromised millions of Windows computers via the deployment of malware.
This included 19 million unique IP addresses, including 613,841 United States-based IP addresses. Once infiltrated by the malware, Wang and the group are alleged to have sold the information of these compromised IP addresses to the highest bidder.
Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said of the takedown, “As a result of this operation, YunHe Wang was arrested on charges that he created and operated the botnet and deployed malware. This case makes clear that the long arm of the law stretches across borders and into the deepest shadows of the dark web, and the Justice Department will never stop fighting to hold cybercriminals to account.”
Pirated versions of seemingly legitimate software were used as the proxy entry point. Wang and his group used Virtual Private Network (VPN) programs to smuggle the malware inside as a bundle with other program files.
Once deployed, Wang operated a spider web of 150 servers worldwide. With 76 of the flagged servers being leased from U.S. vendors. Through this lattice of digital corruption, Wang could give access to paying customers looking for compromised IPs and their data.
Illegal IPs used to commit mass cybercrime
The IPs were used in a plethora of illegal activities. These included child exploitation, bomb threats, and mass fraud. Criminals used the IPs to mask their origin points and locations to give law enforcement a trail of smoke and mirrors, which included billions of dollars in fraud from financial institutions, lenders, and federal lending systems.
According to United States sources, 560,000 fraudulent unemployment insurance claims were generated as part of the IPs purchased via 911 S5. This would total $5.9 billion in pandemic relief garnered by the illegal IPs.
Moreover, Wang would stand to gain $99 million, according to the unsealed indictment and would go on to purchase real estate in the United States, St. Kitts and Nevis, China, Singapore, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.
The Chinese national is now staring down the barrel of a possible 65-year stint in prison for conspiracy to commit computer fraud, substantive computer fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Nicole M. Argentieri, head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, said, “As alleged in the indictment, Wang created malware that compromised millions of residential computers around the world and then sold access to the infected computers to cybercriminals.”

It’s getting tough to keep up with all the Star Wars shenanigans – new movies, new games such as Star Wars Outlaws, and new TV shows like Star Wars: Acolyte. It is certainly a good time to like Star Wars.
Here’s another one for you in the shape of the soon-to-be-with us Star Wars: Hunters, an Arena shooter from Zynga. But what do we know about it so far? Is it free, and, is it really free? Let’s have a look.
What is Star Wars: Hunters?
This third-person arena shooter is going up against some pretty tough competition at the moment, but none obviously have the draw of the Star Wars badge. The ability to set your maps in locations you will recognize from the films is a big deal, and if the devs can pull it off, this is going to be super-popular.
Teams of four will play games that will be familiar to anybody who plays Call of Duty or Xdefiant with modes resembling the likes of Hardpoint present, alongside a couple of newer-looking ideas we are interested in trying out such as Huttball.
Star Wars: Hunters release date and platforms
Not long to wait now with the game slated to be released on 4th June. It has already had a soft launch in Australia but the first time the global audience will get to play is coming right up.
You will be able to play Star Wars: Hunters on mobile and Nintendo Switch. There is no console or PC version planned which is a shame so you will have to make do with iOS, Google Play, or the Nintendo Store to get your fix of this one.
Is Star Wars Hunters free?
It is indeed free to download and play. With that caveat, there is obviously an item shop where you can go and spend your real money on skins, weapons, and skins for weapons.
We imagine some of the more popular characters will end up in the shop because the devs have gotta eat.
Star Wars: Hunters characters
The Hunters website lists the following characters and their classes available at launch.
Tank
Charr (Trandoshan Trapper)
Sentinel (Imperial Heavy Gunner)
Grozz (Wookie Juggernaut)
Slingshot (Droideka Speedster)
Damage
Diago (Miraluka Sharpshooter)

Prime Video’s new big star Nicholas Galitzine lands lead role in Masters of the Universe movie, while Citadel season 2 gets a great cast upgrade
Nicholas Galitzine’s and Jack Reynor’s stars continue to rise as they land plum roles in high-profile movies and shows for Prime Video.
No, the picture above doesn’t show Nicholas Galitzine or Jack Reynor. But it does give you a pretty big hint about Galitzine’s latest role: he’s going to be playing He-Man in the live-action adaptation of the iconic cartoon, Masters of the Universe. Both actors have landed plum roles that should see their stars ascend ever further: while Galitzine battles with Skeletor, Raynor is heading to the Citadel.
We don’t yet know what role Reynor will be playing. But the actor has been cast in season two of Citadel, Prime Video’s spy drama. According to Variety: “Reynor will appear alongside returning series leads Richard Madden and Priyanka-Chopra Jonas as well as Stanley Tucci.” Filming will begin later this year with Joe Russo directing and executive producing.
The second season of Citadel will be Reynor’s third best Prime Video series. He also starred in the William Gibson adaptation The Peripheral and appeared in an episode of Philip K Dick’s Electric Dreams. Reynor’s role in Citadel is part of a packed schedule: he’s also in the upcoming Netflix series The Perfect Couple and Paramount’s Strange Angel.
Galitzine… has… THE POWER
Nicholas Galitzine is hot right now. He starred in the hugely successful Prime Video rom-coms Red, White & Royal Blue and The Idea of You, and his casting in the He-Man movie is going to delight his growing legion of fans. It’s delighted Amazon MGM Studios head of film production and development Julie Rapaport, who says “we’re thrilled to bring the beloved Masters of the Universe to life and couldn’t be more excited to announce the immensely talented Nicholas Galitzine as our He-Man.
“Joining forces with director Travis Knight, Mattel, and Escape Artists, this reintroduction of the character and his universe will be an epic film that will delight audiences from here to Eternia.” Galitzine took to his Instagram (see the post below) to say that: “It has been a dream for so long to play someone of his heart, humour and heroism, I cannot wait to get started”.
Masters of the Universe isn’t the only toy-themed movie in development. After the success of Barbie there’s an entire Toys R Us of toy-themed tie-ins on the way from Mattel Films. According to Deadline, the current slate includes American Girl, Hot Wheels, Bob the Builder, Magic 8 Ball, Matchbox, Major Matt Mason, Polly Pocket, Barney, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Thomas & Friends, UNO, View-Master, and Wishbone.
Masters of the Universe is scheduled for cinematic release on June 5, 2026.

Sony says the PS5 is the company’s most profitable console generation ever, but the PS4 still counts for half of its player base
The PS5 is officially Sony’s most profitable console to date, but the PS4 still covers half of its player base.
The PlayStation 5 is officially Sony’s most profitable console generation to date, but after more than a decade of its life cycle, the PlayStation 4 still accounts for half of its player base.
During Sony’s Game & Network Services Business Segment presentation yesterday (May 29), Hideaki Nishino – who has just been appointed CEO of SIE’s Platform Business Group – shared the company’s latest figures, where he was confirmed that after nearly four years into its cycle, the PS5’s income has almost reached all other consoles combined (via VGC).
“As you can see, the PlayStation 5 userbase has continued to grow significantly, driving to half of our monthly active consoles,” Nishino said. “While the PlayStation 4 is still an important part of our business, our PlayStation 5 players are even more engaged than in our previous generation, and we expect these trends to continue.”
According to the presentation, 97 million users make up PlayStation’s monthly active users, with the PS4 taking up exactly half of its monthly active users at 49 million users.
In terms of engagement, 2.4 billion total gameplay hours have been spent on the PS5, while 1.4 billion have been spent on the PS4.

Since 2020, the PS5 has sold 56 million units and according to Sony, users on the platform are spending more money (+176%) on add-on content +57% on services, and +34% on peripherals.
Users, however, are spending 12% less money on full games, despite the PS5’s engagement hours.
Hermen Hulst, CEO of SIE’s Studio Business Group, added that Sony’s tentpole games will be existing hit franchises and “new IP with high ambition” from “studios with proven track records of quality and success”.
The company will also focus on expanding its live services games with ongoing content, while also experimenting with other opportunities that will “unlock new audiences” and “target new genres”.
For the past few months, we’ve been hearing rumors about the PlayStation 5 Pro. Although Sony hasn’t announced its next major console, reports suggest that the next generation will arrive soon and see a substantial mid-generation jump that will be “45% faster” than the original PS5.
