Google Cloud explains how it accidentally deleted a customer account

UniSuper’s 647,000 users faced two weeks of downtime because of a Google Cloud bug.

Earlier this month, Google Cloud experienced one of its biggest blunders ever when UniSuper, a $135 billion Australian pension fund, had its Google Cloud account wiped out due to some kind of mistake on Google’s end. At the time, UniSuper indicated it had lost everything it had stored with Google, even its backups, and that caused two weeks of downtime for its 647,000 members. There were joint statements from the Google Cloud CEO and UniSuper CEO on the matter, a lot of apologies, and presumably a lot of worried customers who wondered if their retirement fund had disappeared.

In the immediate aftermath, the explanation we got was that “the disruption arose from an unprecedented sequence of events whereby an inadvertent misconfiguration during provisioning of UniSuper’s Private Cloud services ultimately resulted in the deletion of UniSuper’s Private Cloud subscription.” Two weeks later, Google Cloud’s internal review of the problem is finished, and the company has a blog post up detailing what happened.

Google has a “TL;DR” at the top of the post, and it sounds like a Google employee got an input wrong.

It’s always fun when developers throw in some funky mechanics into their games to add a little flavor to the core gameplay. MultiVersus definitely has a couple of these with one being the Toast system – something that has carried over from the beta to the full title.

Here, we’ll explain what Toast does in MultiVersus as it’s not exactly made clear to you in-game. Additionally, we’ll take you through how to actually do it so you’re not left in the dark on how to utilize the feature.

What is Toast in MultiVersus?

You might have seen at the end of a MultiVersus match that you’ve best ‘Toasted’ by another player. This is a way to essentially tip your hat to your opponent and give them some kudos.

In the beta, Toasting granted the Toastee a whopping 25 Gold but since the currency system has undergone a rework with additions such as Prestige Points, things have certainly changed for the full release.

Now, if you Toast someone, you’ll be giving them five Fighter Currency to add to their pool. This is a lesser benefit than the aforementioned Gold but it is still a valuable resource since Fighter Currency is used to unlock new characters.

How to Toast in MultiVersus

If you want to Toast someone in MultiVersus and repay the favor, simply wait until the match finishes and you should see the option to Toast under the player’s banner. The button/key varies depending on your bindings but it should be pretty easy to deduce since it’ll be right there in front of you.

One thing to note here though is that the Toast option will only appear after a rematch is denied, so if you don’t see it straight away, this is why.

You can Toast multiple players if you wish but if you take a look at the top right of the screen, you’ll see that Toasting isn’t infinite. So, while you might be a generous soul, handing out as many Toasts as possible, do remember you will run out if you’re not careful.

Toast stores do replenish simply by playing the game or logging in on different days, but you may be waiting a while if you go trigger happy.

Netflix, the global streaming service, has announced a new animated series focusing on the world of Minecraft. The news was unveiled during developer Mojang’s 15th anniversary celebrations for the blocky building game.

“Just as we’ve wrapped up our 15-day long 15th-anniversary celebration, we have even more exciting news to share with all of you. Hold on to your party hats,” said the release.

Minecraft X Netflix

WildBrain, a studio renowned for its work on shows like Sonic Prime, Ninjago: Dragons Rising, and Carmen Sandiego, is leading the charge in bringing this adaptation to life.

The trailer shows a Creeper spitting at the screen before a cavernous environment filled with lava leads to Netflix’s signature “N”. The entire scene is rendered in the Mincraft pixelated treatment as 8-bit bats swoop overhead and rivers of lava fill the environment.

The release from Minecraft states that this version of the popular multiplayer online building game will feature all new characters and “reflect the world in a new light.”

The game has been celebrated across all playable platforms over the past few weeks. Even Google released a searchable version of the world-builder for its 15th anniversary.

Google then set a series of clickable breadcrumbs for users to move through, showing off many Minecraft-themed vignettes. Minecraft’s in-game Bedrock Market also offered free skins and items for each day of the two-week-long celebration of blocks.

Meanwhile, Mojang has been tight-lipped about a release date for the eagerly anticipated V1.21 patch update. New and old players always anticipate the new biomes, cosmetics, and tools that an update brings. The title will include new Blocks and Mobs, which will open up various building options.

The blocks are:

Crafter: A new redstone-powered automatic crafting station
Trial Spawner: The Trial Spawner will spawn enemies that reward you with loot
Copper bulb: A new light-source block garnished with a copper trim

The new Mobs are:

Armadillo: You will find Armadillos in warm biomes and if you kill them they will drop their tough armored skin, which you can use to craft into your own defensive clothing
The Breeze: The Breeze is a purple-bodied creature with a head made of wind – a bit like a Tornado. It deals with wind damage that explodes and takes a chunk off your health bar
