Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is finally launching worldwide next month
Call of Duty Warzone Mobile is launching on Android and iOS devices next month.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is finally set to launch in full next month following the decision to delay the game late last year.
A free-to-play mobile shooter, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is a successor to Call of Duty: Mobile that seems set to offer a portable gaming experience that is even closer to its console counterparts. Featuring full cross-progression with Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, Warzone Mobile will let you access the majority of your unlocked content on the go.
Completing matches in Warzone Mobile will also contribute to your player level, weapon level, and overall battle pass progression offering you the chance to continue grinding while you’re away from home. Although the game is currently only available in a limited capacity in select regions, a recent post on the official Call of Duty blog has confirmed that it is going to launch worldwide for both Android and iOS devices on March 21, 2024.
In addition to the cross-progression, the blog post also outlines some of the features that players can expect to see in the full launch. This includes the long-awaited return of the fan-favorite Verdansk map in a huge 120-player battle royale mode. We’ll also be getting Rebirth Island in a small-scale 48-player Resurgence mode.
Despite what the name might suggest, Warzone Mobile will also have some core multiplayer modes such as Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Search & Destroy, and Hardcore. Maps range from Shipment to Shoot House and Scrapyard, presumably all based on their recent Modern Warfare 3 incarnations.
If you’re interested in giving the game a go, it’s worth noting that you can net yourself some pretty neat rewards by simply pre-registering for the app on your device. This includes the Condemned operator skin for Ghost, the M4 Archfiend weapon blueprint, the Prince of Hell weapon blueprint, the Foe’s Flame vinyl, and the Dark Familiar emblem.

The Rings of Power season 2 isn’t out yet, but Amazon has all but confirmed a third season is on the way
Prime Video’s TV adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary fantasy universe sounds like it’s getting a third season.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, but Amazon has seemingly confirmed that a third installment is in early development.
Yesterday (February 28), The Hollywood Reporter (THR) revealed that, even though Amazon hasn’t officially greenlit a third season, work on the high-fantasy Prime Video series’ likely next entry has effectively begun. A writers room is yet to be set up, but The Rings of Power‘s showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are believed to be outlining season 3’s initial story.
The confirmation came as part of a wider announcement that Payne and McKay have signed a new three-year deal with Amazon MGM Studios, and that the pair have launched their own company titled 10:40PM Productions. THR’s article also claims that The Rings of Power season 2 will be released later in 2024.
Season 2 and 3 are coming! LET’S GOOOOOOO 👏🏼😍🙌🏼🔥💍✨ pic.twitter.com/bUxqNOVHtDFebruary 28, 2024
In a statement accompanying the reveal, Amazon’s Head of Television Vernon Sanders said: “We began this remarkable journey with J.D. and Patrick more than five and a half years ago and have never looked back. We continue to be amazed by the scope and scale of their vision and the enormous global success achieved by The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in its record-breaking first season.
“We can’t wait for Prime Video customers to experience the epic adventure and high-stakes drama that J.D. and Patrick are continuing to build throughout season two and beyond. Naturally, the studio is thrilled to extend our overall deal with these brilliant creative minds as they continue to deliver on their passion for great storytelling.”
TechRadar has reached out to Amazon for an official comment on the development of The Rings of Power‘s third season. We’ll update this article if we hear back.

We should have known that season 2 wouldn’t be the show’s final entry. When it premiered on Amazon’s primary streaming platform in September 2022, The Rings of Power broke new ground for one of the world’s best streaming services.
Indeed, its two-episode premiere holds the record as the most-streamed opening for a TV show in Prime Video history. AS THR notes, it’s also the most-watched Amazon TV Original ever (a position originally held by The Boys) and ranked among the most popular shows on Nielsen’s streaming chart throughout its season 1 run. Clearly, Amazon is bullish about the ongoing success of its Lord of the Rings prequel series, hence the reported decision to move forward with another installment.
The Rings of Power‘s first season, which we hailed as “a magnificently magical and mystical return to Middle-earth“, wasn’t universally loved by long-time fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary fantasy works (which the Prime Video show is based on), though. Large parts of The Lord of the Rings‘ devote fanbase took exception to how Amazon’s TV adaptation played fast and loose with Middle-earth’s illustrious history, and the fact that it’s a prequel series that’s not officially canon in The Lord of the Rings universe didn’t stop diehards review-bombing it on Rotten Tomatoes, with its 38% audience rating suggesting that it’s not viewed as one of the best Prime Video shows in many people’s eyes.
Given its poor audience reception, it remains to be seen if The Rings of Power will continue to attract viewers with its second season; it if fails to do so, those season 3 plans might be consigned to the scrap heap before filming even begins. But, with the show’s cast and crew claiming that The Rings of Power will forge closer ties to The Lord of the Rings books next season, a more faithful adaptation might do enough to address Tolkienites’ concerns and turn the show’s fortunes around – in which case you can bet on Amazon greenlighting season 3 as soon as possible.

We are going to take Infinite Craft back to a simpler time, the time of the 80s action movie star. We already know you can create just about everything in IC, even if it isn’t quite as infinite as its title suggests but creating Rambo, and his full name John Rambo, should give us an interesting item to mix with some of our existing inventory. We will leave it up to you to see if you want to mix him with Elon Musk.
How to craft John Rambo
So we are not interested in Stallone himself here, but rather his Vietnam war hero John Rambo, he of many action movies now, so much so that they still keep coming out. Maybe you can make your own once we complete the steps below. Or maybe you can find a way to stop him making any more.
Let’s go.

PlayStation layoffs confirmed to have impacted Insomniac Games, the studio behind Marvel’s Spider-Man
Insomniac Games has confirmed that it’s also being affected by the recent PlayStation layoffs.
Insomniac Games has announced that it is also being affected by layoffs at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and PlayStation Studios.
In an announcement on Twitter / X, Insomniac stated: “Like several other teams across SIE and PlayStation Studios, Insomniac Games was impacted by yesterday’s layoffs. There are no sufficient words to express our feelings about it. This is a solemn and unprecedented moment for our studio.”
Insomniac continued: “We are focusing our energy on helping everyone affected through this challenging time. For those who are hiring, there are great people seeking new roles who made important contributions to Insomniac’s history. We’re extremely grateful for them and they will be missed.”
pic.twitter.com/B0AloBRyy5February 28, 2024
Insomniac’s announcement comes as a result of planned layoffs across SIE and PlayStation Studios.
Earlier this week, PlayStation announced plans to close its London studio and lay off roughly 900 staff. According to SIE president and CEO Jim Ryan, this is set to affect “employees across the globe.” This all comes as a “plan to commence a reduction of our overall headcount globally by about 8 [percent] or about 900 people,” the CEO continued.
In addition to job losses at Insomniac, there will be “reductions” at Firesprite studio, the co-developers of Horizon Call of the Mountain.
Insomniac’s most recent release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, was well-received by fans and critics, including our own editor-in-chief Jake Tucker who praised how the open-world adventure game “prioritizes fun above all else” and gave the game four stars out of five.
Spider-Man 2‘s mammoth $300 budget raised plenty of questions about the sustainability of Sony’s business practices (via Forbes). It would appear that these chickens have finally come home to roost. However, as usual, it looks as though it’s employees, not executives, who are paying the price.
2024 has already been an extremely tough year for the games industry, with layoffs also occurring at Supermassive Games, Visual Concepts Austin, Embracer Group, and Activision Blizzard – and that’s just this month.
Increasing unsustainability in the games industry is playing havoc with the lives of employees. We sincerely hope that those affected are able to land on their feet.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the best PS5 games out there as well as one of the best PS5 exclusives.

A Neuromancer TV series is coming to Apple TV+
Apple TV+ has announced it’s adapting William Gibson’s Neuromancer into a 10-episode series. The novel debuted in 1984 and is largely thought to mark the birth of cyberpunk, which includes creations like The Matrix and Robocop. In fact, it’s crazy that it has taken four decades for it to get the Hollywood treatment.
Neuromancer follows “a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets,” a release states. The story is being brought to the small screen by Graham Roland (Dark Winds, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) and JD Dillard (Devotion, Sweetheart), who will act as showrunner and director, respectively. Skydance Television and Anonymous Content will co-produce it with support from Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment.
Production on Neuromancer has yet to start, so details like the cast and release date are still up in the air. In the meantime, you can check out the existing video game and graphic novel versions of Neuromancer and Amazon’s series, The Peripheral, based on another one of Gibson’s works and starring Chloë Grace Moretz. EA is laying off around 5% of staff, stopping development on a Respawn Star Wars FPS, and ‘winding down Ridgeline as a standalone studio’
EA has confirmed plans to lay off staff and sunset games as it moves away from ‘the development of future licensed IP.’
Electronics Arts (EA) has confirmed plans to lay off around five percent of its staff, move away from developing future licensed games it doesn’t think will be successful, and begin “winding down Ridgeline as a standalone studio.”
In a statement shared with employees, CEO Andrew Wilson announced: “We are streamlining our company operations to deliver deeper, more connected experiences for fans everywhere that build community, shape culture, and grow fandom.
“In this time of change, we expect these decisions to impact approximately five percent of our workforce. I understand this will create uncertainty and be challenging for many who have worked with such dedication and passion and have made important contributions to our company,” he continued. “While not every team will be impacted, this is the hardest part of these changes, and we have deeply considered every option to try and limit impacts to our teams.”
Wilson stated that it’s hoped many of those affected will be able to “find new roles and paths to transition onto other projects,” while others will be supported and treated with “the utmost attention, care, and respect.”
One EA studio facing significant changes is Ridgeline Games, which was focused on creating “narrative experiences” for Battlefield. In a separate message from the president of EA entertainment, technology, and central development, Laura Miele, it was confirmed that following the departure of former leader Marcus Lehto, who recently decided to leave the company, new leadership has been appointed at Criterion. In addition, EA is “winding down Ridgeline as a standalone studio in Seattle, with some team members joining Ripple Effect.”
Miele added: “They’ll continue to work with teams across DICE, Ripple, and Criterion as they build the next Battlefield experience.”
As part of the changes to the company, EA is also “sunsetting games and moving away from development of future licensed IP that we do not believe will be successful in our changing industry.” Wilson explained that the company believes this will “drive creativity, accelerate innovation, and double down on our biggest opportunities” with things such as sports, EA-owned IP, and their communities.
We’re already aware of one of the games that has been affected by this change in strategy: a first-person shooter (FPS) Star Wars action game developed by Respawn Entertainment. Miele stated that gamers are “most excited” about Respawn’s existing library of brands, as well as its Star Wars Jedi games, which influenced the decision to move away from the FPS. Focus will instead be placed on “new projects based on our owned brands while providing support for existing games.”
Miele said: “It’s always hard to walk away from a project, and this decision is not a reflection of the team’s talent, tenacity, or passion they have for the game. Giving fans the next installments of the iconic franchises they want is the definition of blockbuster storytelling and the right place to focus.”
EA is sadly not the only games company to have announced decisions like this lately. This week it was also announced that PlayStation is laying off around 900 people worldwide, alongside the shutdown of its London Studio.

EA cancels Respawn’s Star Wars first-person shooter

EA has canceled Respawn’s first-person shooter, based on Star Wars’ The Mandalorian, as part of a recent round of layoffs.
The game was first announced in January 2022, billed as an “all-new Star Wars first-person shooter game”. The production was being led by former LucasArts veteran and Medal of Honor co-creator Peter Hirschmann, who previously worked on the popular Star Wars Battlefront games, The Force Unleashed, and more.
However, EA has now announced that the Star Wars game has been canceled amid 670 company-wide layoffs, representing approximately 5% of the workforce. This comes just a few days after Sony announced widespread layoffs at PlayStation, highlighting the wider issue in the industry.
It doesn’t mean the end of Star Wars games, however; instead, Respawn will focus on the Jedi and Apex Legends series.
“As we’ve looked at Respawn’s portfolio over the last few months, what’s clear is the games our players are most excited about are Jedi and Respawn’s rich library of owned brands,” said EA Entertainment president Laura Miele in a statement published on Wednesday (Feb 28).
“Knowing this, we have decided to pivot away from early development on a Star Wars FPS Action game to focus our efforts on new projects based on our owned brands while providing support for existing games.
“It’s always hard to walk away from a project, and this decision is not a reflection of the team’s talent, tenacity, or passion they have for the game. Giving fans the next installments of the iconic franchises they want is the definition of blockbuster storytelling and the right place to focus.”
The future of Star Wars games
It seems likely that we can expect a third Star Wars Jedi game, with actor Cameron Monaghan hinting during Ocala Comic Con that he was “working on a third” entry in the ever-popular series, as shown in this video from YouTuber in attendance Saix_XIII.
This was closely followed by the director of the two previous games, Stig Asmussen, revealing that he was leaving Respawn. However, Asmussen had said previously that he had also envisaged the games following a three-title arc, so the developer may be sticking with this plan.
